Well, before I got her, she had a litter of kittens and was then spayed, so we're pretty sure she's female. The humane society adopted out all her kittens.

Dixie is adorable - I love those markings. I used to have a cat that looked just like her as a child.

We're calling her Ginger.

My boyfriend and I have an appointment on Saturday to get another kitty from a local humane society. I wanted to wait a few months to get another one, but my boyfriend kept pushing me to look, and I found one that, on paper, has the personality I'd like. We'll see how it goes. I'll post pics if we get her.

That movie was ok - nothing special, imo. Did you like it?

I talked to the vet today, and her kidneys aren't responding. We're putting her down this afternoon.

I liked the movie, I saw it in the theater. I'll pick up the DVD soon.

About a year ago I found a skinny white cat in an electrical box outside my building. She was neutered and declawed. I never found her owners, so I kept her. The vet said she checked out fine, and estimated her to be 2-3 years old. She's always stayed skinny, and has been a pretty good cat.

My boyfriend and I moved in together into a new home over the weekend, and she stopped eating. A few people I talked to put it on the stress of moving, so I waited a few days to see if she'd get over it. She didn't, so I took her into the vet yesterday (same clinic, but different vet saw her from before). This vet looked at her for a few minutes, and guessed she was over 10 years old, mainly by looking at her teeth. Right now we're looking at kidney failure. She's in the animal hospital for 2-4 days, while they get fluids in her and try to get her to eat. The vet said today she's looking more alert, but hasn't eaten as of yet. The basic goal is to get the levels of her blood back to normal, and get her to eat/gain weight. If the treatment over the next few days is successful, then she'll get sent home with a special diet, and we'll have to give her fluids via an IV mechanism.

I'm not particularly hopeful, as the vet said some of the bad stuff in her blood was so high the machine couldn't even read it. The vet also said that even though this treatment may work for now, there's no telling how long it may work for her (meaning, she could go downhill again in a week, or could go for a few more years).

Has anyone dealt with a cat going through kidney issues? Any experiences anyone can share as for what to possibly expect if she gets better while at the vet's?
