What's your favorite? (Don't say, "I will survive"...it's been done to death!!) Mine was 1988's "Savin' Myself For You" by Nora....someone. |

The men on this site are slowly posting bikini-mama's as avatars. I think women should get equal time with avatars such as these:

Brian, those film's were adapted from a screenplay.... specifically made for screen/film/cinema and songs would destroy the message of the story. In fact, songs would work against it! Dreamgirls, on the other hand, was a theatrical play intended for the theatre....songs were suppose to 'make' the show big!! (and it did), but the translation into film failed. The actors weren't free to roam the stage as they sang ,which keeps the audience focused. Movement enhances song. But, due to the nature of 'film' they had to sing these big production numbers being very still or slightly moving...and it just didn't look right! | MiniMary

Rent, from what I could make out was about a group of people who were being evicted, one drug user, another dying of aids was it? and they all seemed broke *shrugs* ...... like i said it didnt translate well for me.
I know David, who would be singing with those issues??? In Dreamgirls, they sang as they gave each other dirty looks...no one was even smiling!! | MiniMary

Unfortunately, Dreamgirl tunes were NOT very catchy. I do not remember one song except that "And I'm Not Going..." and even that was overly dramatic. Yes, all the black people in the audience screamed and clapped. I kinda giggled (as spit was flying out of her mouth. ) |
