Probably because a lot of kids are dumb risk takers who will do anything to feel 'different'. That doesn't mean it will do anything for a non-ADD adult who just wants to be more motivated and focus better.

What about these kids that will take so much over the counter medicine that they barf, just so they get enough DXM to hallucinate?

Yep. It doesn't work on people who don't need it.

 * laughing out loud * okay.

If I drink more than a little, I just get silly and want to crack jokes, and compliment people.

By 'more focused' I didn't mean alert/attentive as needed for driving. I meant I can actually get tasks done without stopping to do something else.

No, If I drink more, I get drunk.

If I drink a little bit, not enough to get drunk, then I get more motivated and focused. I get more done.

possibly, for some people.

I noticed if I drink just a little bit of alcohol, I get more focused and motivated, and feel like that's how motivated and focused I should be feeling all the time. I wonder how I can get that way without having to drink beer all day

The positive side

Do you tend to assume the best or the worst case scenario in situations?

no. There's no one I dislike enough or that has a negative effect on my life.

Is there anyone in your life these days that is having a negative effect on it?

That's usually the defining characteristic of the severity of a mental illness. If it interferes with occupational and social functioning, then it is a problem. If it is merely annoying to petty people, then it isn't a problem. * wink *
