What is your favorite children's book?

Your current favorite.
To the National Library Association, the definition of "children's book" is literature intended for people under the age of 12. But, as it is a relative concept, just answer the question in the way you see fit. * smile *

I didn't care much for it, but it was my son's favorite, so I read it quite a lot. I much preferred reading 'Where the wild things are' and 'Kamapuaa'. I could get quite dramatic creating my own songs and dances to illustrate them. Reading original eskimo and irish folk tales was fun too.

I don't know * frown *
When I couldn't read by myself my mom read for me from those little children book with many rhymes and holes in which you can stick your fingers * smile *
When I learnt to read I read the aforementioned books because I had them, and fairy tales and books written for children by authors who are usually associated with adults books, such as Goethe. Then at about 7 or 8 I read ANYTHING.Fairytales, again, but written in a richer style,Edgar Allan Poe,Dumas,Little Women...even Bukowski!! (?! I like him now but I'm 23 * wink * )
Then I discovered Roald Dahl and maybe if I have to pick one book would be one of Dahl's books. They are fabulous and I can still read them and enjoy them a lot.I still read Poe,but, hey that's not a children author * wink *
I can't mention just one book.I also liked an italian writer called Gianni Rodari, and between 10 and 14 I read a lot of greek and celtic myth books and I still like them a lot * smile *

Oh,I really had a fascination for the Three Musketeers. But,again, this is now considered a "children" book but it wasn't when it was written, and still I don't think that a little child could read it.When you are 8 is different.I used to play Three Musketeers with my dad,I was Milady and he was Richelieu.I liked the bad ones * smile *

I like all of Beverly Cleary's books, but I'm really fond of her Ramona Quimby books.

That sounds as though it might be the Lemony Snickets series.
