I forced myself to sit through "Can't Stop the Music" out of some perverse desire to do so. It took several attempts. "Plan Nine From Outer Space" is considered to be the worst movie ever made. I've seen it a few times. It is so bad it is good though.

But the all time worst would have to be Eyes Wide Shut. That movie just made me want to puke it was so incredibly boring.

The worst movie I have ever seen as far as the movie being boring was this movie about Bigfoot. The worst movie as far as the movie being poorly made was Plan 9 from outer space. The flying saucers were actual paper plates attached to string, and you could see the string the whole time. They would even show scenes where in the second half of the scene, the characters had changed their clothes, and in some cases, even their names. It is actually kind of funny to watch it, just to make fun of it.

There was a movie called "Guilty By Suspicion" out a few years back, and even though it was a good movie, I was so mad after watching it. No movie has ever made me as angry. It was about Joseph McCarthy and the blacklisting in Hollywood of people who were suspected to be Communists. The worst part about it is, at that time, the Communist candidates were on the ballot. I just thought it was horrible how many people's careers and lives were ruined.

*shrug* I liked American Psycho quite a bit, thought Mission: Impossible was excellent (but I suspect you actually mean Mi:2 which was a huge disappointment, thought it did have a few good points) and while I enjoyed Chicken Run I was very disappointed (if it had been *half* as good as W&G I would have been happy. I was not happy). I even liked Eyes Wide Shut. But we agree on Gladiator.

Easily the worst film I've seen recently was Hey Dude! Where's My Car?. I have * no * idea why I was stupid enough to sit through it, but I want those minutes of my life back. Probably one of the 5 or 10 worst films I've ever seen.

Interesting... I think you're the first person I've met who preferred Mi:2. It had a couple of scenes I love, but John Woo's career has been going downhill ever since he went to Hollywood (but he's making more money, which is what counts eh?). Like most people I thought Fargo was an excellent film, but unlike most people I thought Godfather was overhyped (which is not the same as bad - it was good). I loved Wayne's World when it came out, not sure how it'd hold up. And as for R&J... great set design, but the rest sucked... especially Leo (who was, imho, good only in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and OK in The Beach). The other two I've never seen and probably won't because I don't think I'd like them.

There's not a film you could name (err... that a significant number of people have seen * smile * ) that doesn't have people who love it to death and people who detest it to the core.

The BEach was OK for the first 2/3rds, but that last 3rd was just confusing. I got so lost. Leo got an oscar nomination for Gilbert Grape (Supporting). The first Wayne's World was cool, but the 2nd one was kinda weak. The Godfather was much better than I'd anticiapted. I just found it to be a bit too cliche in the storyline, the characters and the dialogue. I mean, come on, they lose the dog and then find him in perfect shape and rescue him about half an hour later as they drive their flaming jeep through flowing lava. It's a prime example of a cheesy Hollywood moment.

I expected a lot of Blade, so I was surprised when it delivered * smile * I had been a fan of Snipes for a few years before that film, and I luurve sword fights (not enough of them in film)... so yeah, very high expectations really.

The Big Lebowski was indeed weak compared to Fargo... but then so are most films so I don't consider that a flaw * wink * It had some of the best done dream sequences around, and that bowling ball cam was very cool.

I particularly want to see Blood Simple. O Brother Where Art Thou? is far from a perfect film but I definitely recommend it. It used music a lot and it used it very well. In that one aspect (but not overall) it was probably one of the best films I've seen.

You'll probably like CTHD if the hype hasn't ruined it for you. It has beautiful cinematics and some very well done fight scenes... and it stars Chow Yun-Fat, how could it possibly be bad with that combination? * wink *

Hmmm.... that'd be interesting. I wonder how sword fighting would work in fast forward? I think that'd be even harder to get right than the Kung Fu (which a lot of people felt The Matrix didn't get right; I'm not sure where I stand), but if they did it could be rather interesting. I guess it might be a little like the end of Blade...?

As for sword fightin in the Matrix, who cares about realism? Don't we go to the movies to escape reality? I wanna see some sword fights in that ultra-slo-mo style, and I want it NOW! * smile *

 * grin * It doesn't have to look realistic exactly... but if it looks just downright impossible (even given the super speed they have) it's not really going to work... They could just get two *real* Japanese masters to spar and then slow that down - it'll probably look impossible in slow-mo * wink *
