| KelBel | posted 21-Mar-2001 1:57pm Hmm...anything that my Dad rents. lol Maybe Mars Attacks or A scary movie. Both of those were pretty dumb. Know what a funny movie is though?! EAST IS EAST!! It looks cheesy and stuff, but it's actually pretty good. |
| mary | posted 21-Mar-2001 2:00pm Ummm, I can't really say for sure what I think is the worst. My S/O HATED The Beach, the thought it was the most pathetic movie he has seen lately. |
| Zang | posted 21-Mar-2001 2:36pm I forced myself to sit through "Can't Stop the Music" out of some perverse desire to do so. It took several attempts. "Plan Nine From Outer Space" is considered to be the worst movie ever made. I've seen it a few times. It is so bad it is good though. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 21-Mar-2001 2:49pm Without a doubt-Joe's Apartment. I love Plan 9 From Outer Space-it's so wonderfully cheesy! |
| Pomeranian | posted 21-Mar-2001 2:54pm Ok, its not a movie, but I did literally get sick to my stomach watching the "Brady Bunch Variety Hour" on DVD. It is Vogon-poetry horrible. |

| Frostbrand | (reply to Violet) posted 21-Mar-2001 4:13pm You thouhgt YOU were ripped off? I saw American Psycho for FREE and I wanted my money back! |
| juliw | posted 21-Mar-2001 6:09pm The worst movie I have ever seen as far as the movie being boring was this movie about Bigfoot. The worst movie as far as the movie being poorly made was Plan 9 from outer space. The flying saucers were actual paper plates attached to string, and you could see the string the whole time. They would even show scenes where in the second half of the scene, the characters had changed their clothes, and in some cases, even their names. It is actually kind of funny to watch it, just to make fun of it. |
| juliw | posted 21-Mar-2001 6:16pm There was a movie called "Guilty By Suspicion" out a few years back, and even though it was a good movie, I was so mad after watching it. No movie has ever made me as angry. It was about Joseph McCarthy and the blacklisting in Hollywood of people who were suspected to be Communists. The worst part about it is, at that time, the Communist candidates were on the ballot. I just thought it was horrible how many people's careers and lives were ruined. |

| Frostbrand | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 22-Mar-2001 1:00am Meet The Parents was pretty funny (I saw a lot of free mvoies when I worked a tthe movie theatre). But I'm sticking with Chicken Run. And Almost Famous. And Gladiator. And an indpendent film called Titanic Town (which had nothing to do with the boat. It was set in Northenr Island circa 1975). I also loved Duets and Space Cowboys (shut up, it was good!). |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 22-Mar-2001 1:14am I've seen Almost Famous-liked it. Haven't seen Space Cowboys,Gladiator or Duets. Never heard of Titanic Town. |

| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 22-Mar-2001 9:25am *shrug* I liked American Psycho quite a bit, thought Mission: Impossible was excellent (but I suspect you actually mean Mi:2 which was a huge disappointment, thought it did have a few good points) and while I enjoyed Chicken Run I was very disappointed (if it had been *half* as good as W&G I would have been happy. I was not happy). I even liked Eyes Wide Shut. But we agree on Gladiator. Easily the worst film I've seen recently was Hey Dude! Where's My Car?. I have |

| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 23-Mar-2001 2:44am No, I thought M:I 2 was better than the original, becasue I could follow MI2. Plus I love Anothnoy Hopkins. And, at the time I saw it, I was simply in the mood for a silly action movie. And I LOVED Chicken Run, regardless of what you say. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 23-Mar-2001 2:46am Fargo, Godfather, M:I 2, What Lies Beneath, Perfect Storm, Wayne's World, Romeo & Juliet; all these movies I liked. | supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 25-Mar-2001 7:34am Interesting... I think you're the first person I've met who preferred Mi:2. It had a couple of scenes I love, but John Woo's career has been going downhill ever since he went to Hollywood (but he's making more money, which is what counts eh?). Like most people I thought Fargo was an excellent film, but unlike most people I thought Godfather was overhyped (which is not the same as bad - it was good). I loved Wayne's World when it came out, not sure how it'd hold up. And as for R&J... great set design, but the rest sucked... especially Leo (who was, imho, good only in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and OK in The Beach). The other two I've never seen and probably won't because I don't think I'd like them. There's not a film you could name (err... that a significant number of people have seen |

| Wicksy | (reply to ASB) posted 25-Mar-2001 11:25am If it has sex in it, I might wanna watch it |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 25-Mar-2001 5:04pm The BEach was OK for the first 2/3rds, but that last 3rd was just confusing. I got so lost. Leo got an oscar nomination for Gilbert Grape (Supporting). The first Wayne's World was cool, but the 2nd one was kinda weak. The Godfather was much better than I'd anticiapted. I'd actually expected it to suck, becuase of the overhyping. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to wooda) posted 25-Mar-2001 5:06pm I liked X-Men too1 I'd expected it to blow like every other comic adaptation out there (Tank Girl, Barb Wire, Captain America, The Punisher, ad nauseum). But it was pleasently surprisng! Hugh Jackmna and Ian mcKellan were especcially good. |

| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 26-Mar-2001 1:35am Fargo tends to make a lot of peoples "All Time Top Ten" lists I think. I haven't seen much (any?) of the Coen brothers earlier stuff, but I also thought The Big Lebowski and O Brother Where Art Thou? were excellent. Blade was a comic adaption wasn't it? Didn't like it? Or haven't seen it? |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 26-Mar-2001 2:52am Yah Shure, alrighty then. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 26-Mar-2001 3:15am Actually Blade falls under the "expected it to suck, but it didn't" category, which, personally are my favorite kind. The big lebowski was kinda weak compared to Fargo, Raising Arizona, and Bloos Simple. Haven't seen O Brother yet, but I plan to. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to Katie_harris01) posted 26-Mar-2001 3:17am I liked Scary movie myself, but, like with M:I 2, I was just in the mood for that kind of film at the time. |
| Maarten | posted 26-Mar-2001 7:05am The Matrix |
| Violet | (reply to Wicksy) posted 26-Mar-2001 9:35am I just found it to be a bit too cliche in the storyline, the characters and the dialogue. I mean, come on, they lose the dog and then find him in perfect shape and rescue him about half an hour later as they drive their flaming jeep through flowing lava. It's a prime example of a cheesy Hollywood moment. |
| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 27-Mar-2001 10:09am I expected a lot of Blade, so I was surprised when it delivered The Big Lebowski was indeed weak compared to Fargo... but then so are most films so I don't consider that a flaw I particularly want to see Blood Simple. O Brother Where Art Thou? is far from a perfect film but I definitely recommend it. It used music a lot and it used it very well. In that one aspect (but not overall) it was probably one of the best films I've seen. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 27-Mar-2001 11:35pm I too love sword fights! We don't have enough of those in movies any more. I can count all the movie sword fights of the 90s on one hand, not counting period pieces. |
| they | posted 28-Mar-2001 12:58am These teenagers were huge and they were walking all over their town wreaking havoc.. I don't remember what it was called.. but it was really B movie-ish and was made sometime around the 60s. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to they) posted 28-Mar-2001 2:38am Maybe it was "Teenagers from Outer Space". Do you recall whether they had a ray gun that turned people into skeletons? |
| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 28-Mar-2001 8:34am And they mostly suck |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 29-Mar-2001 12:23am There weren't even any good sword fights in the 90 minute suck fest that was the D&D movie! That movie wasn't based on the game dude. It was based on the cover of the box my copy of the game came in. The first Highlander movie had some good sword fights in it though. |
| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 29-Mar-2001 8:57am I'm still interested in seeing the D&D movie even though I've heard pretty much nothing but bad things about it... I'll just be sure to spend little or no money on it |

| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 30-Mar-2001 8:12am You'll probably like CTHD if the hype hasn't ruined it for you. It has beautiful cinematics and some very well done fight scenes... and it stars Chow Yun-Fat, how could it possibly be bad with that combination? Hmmm.... that'd be interesting. I wonder how sword fighting would work in fast forward? I think that'd be even harder to get right than the Kung Fu (which a lot of people felt The Matrix didn't get right; I'm not sure where I stand), but if they did it could be rather interesting. I guess it might be a little like the end of Blade...? |
| SueBee | posted 30-Mar-2001 2:42pm Dumb & Dumber. I couldn't even give it a chance, I had to turn it off after the first five minutes. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to supplicant) posted 31-Mar-2001 12:21am I suppose. Hype can really ruin a movie for anyone. That's why when I do see it, I'll try to pretend that the critics hated it. I don't know if it'll work, but... As for sword fightin in the Matrix, who cares about realism? Don't we go to the movies to escape reality? I wanna see some sword fights in that ultra-slo-mo style, and I want it NOW! |
| supplicant | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 1-Apr-2001 11:50am |
| SueBee | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 1-Apr-2001 3:28pm I sure go to the movies to escape reality. If a movie manages to make some amazing things look realistic, that can be really impressive, but entertainment is all I ask for. |
