depends...but I do feel you only live once and hoarding pennies for a rainy day that may never come is a bit silly. I of course believe in saving within reason. But people who worry about every little dime....when they don't actually need to...are missing the point.

I believe that money is but one tool among many for enabling fun, so I spend in the best way for me to maximize enjoyment. In other words, it depends.

For the most part I have no self control when it comes to spending money, but once in awhile I'm sensible. If I want something really badly, I'll usually get it, but I do often shop around for the best deal.

Being cheap comes naturally to me, being extravagant takes a conscious effort.
I do both equally, I'd say.

I've been through the times where I needed to scrimp and save....now its nice to be able to buy what I want when I want it.

I have a hard time holding on to money. Mostly I give it to other people or buy things for others. I think that I am waayy too generous. Of course, now I don't have any money, so this question doesn't really apply to me at this point in my life.

If something is unusual and rare I will pay full price for it. If it is unspeakably rare I would pay what is asked. Those things include rare Damned CDs, limited print Preraphaelite posters, icy pink fuzzy coats in actual ladie's sizes, etc., I usually try to pay as low as possible for things. I just saw an ad on Ebay for 500 individually cardboarded tampons going for $25.00 plus S&H. If I only had the money. I use 2 for 1 coupons at restaurants when I can. I shop at yard sales and thrift stores. I plan to get my own computer through a penny saver book (discount ads column). I can get real "sea water (chemically aged)" pearls shucked from the oyster in front of me for $10.00 an oyster. My sister brings me groceries (mostly canned and packaged goods) all the time. She reigns as queen of cheap. She and her husband Scott, clip coupons and take them to stores that have double coupon specials. They find what they can of goods that are damaged and priced very low. Then they pull out the right coupon (which will probably be doubled) from a bag and take it to the cashier with a host of other deals. That's not it. They will find a rebate coupon to accompany that thing. Most of the time they will get the food for free or make up to a $1.00 back off something they paid nothing for. She and Scott are crazy. They have a crazy kitchen. They have no room for cups and plates because they cram the cupboards with all kinds of food. Sometimes they have to keep it on the kitchen floor and in their rooms. They get shampoo and deodorant this way, too.
