When I was a child, we had loads of pets - those that I can remember include dogs called Sally, Sadie, Sadie 2, various other dogs (including loads of puppies that had names before they left us but that I don't remember any of), various cats including Beans, Mushroom, Smokie, Kittie, Jess, Dumbo, and others that I've since forgotten. I don't recall the gerbils ever having names, although I think we did give names to some of the fish.

My own pets (as opposed to family pets when I was a child) so far consist of four cats: Marmite, Bovril, Slinky and Sproingy. The first two now live with my parents (they went there when I had to move into a flat that didn't allow pets, and I didn't feel it was fair to make them move again when I bought a new house), so the second two are my current cats. Slinky was named as a result of my name my cat page (Slinky was one of the suggestions), and Sproingy is named after the Linux screensaver. Anyone who has seen my cat and knows Linux will understand why it's apt.

My fifth cat will, of course, be called Ethernet.

When I was very little we had a cat named Angwyshaunce. Then I had a series of goldfish, the only one whose name I remember being Hazel. I only had him for about a week before he died--I won him at a carnival, and those kinds of fish were always short-lived. I didn't have any more pets until grad school--my first cat was Zeke. He died about 3 1/2 years ago. Now I have Mizu and Ms. Kitty Fantastico.

I've never had a pet of my very own, but I have lived with pets. How about that?

When I was very young we had a dog named "Rip". I don't really remember him. He ran away when I was about two, maybe younger.

Then we had another dog named "Tammy". Uhh...we had some rodents..."Sniffy", "Simon", "Garfunkle"...possibly some more I don't remember.

We had a cat named "Kitty".

Later on, I moved out and had roommates. Some of them had pets. Let's see how many names I can remember. Cat named "Bob". Cat named "Randy". Two cats named "Govinda" and "Siddhartha". Two other cats named "Stimpy" and "Stripe". There was also a dog and a few other cats, but I don't remember their names.

My brother had a puppy named Cyrus who I saw get hit by a car.
I brought home 2 rabbits named snuggle and Foo Foo who were supposed to be both girls who ended up having 9 babies and 7 of them died and we gave them away cause they weren't happy in a cage anyway.

That's a good one. Cats do tend to rule you and not vice versa. They don't move either when it's time for bed. I have to contend with usually 4 or 5 in the way of getting into bed. I usually just pick up the bedspread and gentley roll them out of the way. Of course, once in bed they all end up on top of me.

(reply to cerealkiller) posted 9-Jul-2004 6:53pm
That's right they end up right back on top. At one time we had 12 cats at once, and about 5 thought they owned the bed--They did. We just we extra covers or something to them. I only have one cat and one dog now but would love to have more cats. But now is not a good time--money wise anyways with shots and all the vet needs plus food. Mr. Critter also has to approve of any newcomers or they usually can't stay. He's the boss. * smile *

I need to add...

We have two new kittens.. Molly and Joon (aka Junkyard cat, aka Joonie Bin Laden--she's a terrorist)..

They are sisters from the same litter and they love each other so much. * grin *
