| Pomeranian | posted 26-Jan-1999 9:04pm I had a nipple pierced, until I lost all sensation in it. To this day, that nipple has not been quite the same. |
| pandora | posted 26-Jan-1999 9:14pm I think you should have tried to have a more comprehensive list. You left off *quite* a few things. |
| shadow | posted 27-Jan-1999 12:34am two rings in my left ear and one in my right eyebrow. |
| hunter | posted 27-Jan-1999 2:25am I toyed with piercing my tongue, but I'm really prone to infection and thus squeamish about opening more holes to the germs. And then I thought about piercing my eyebrow, but felt overwhelmed by the trendiness of it, and thus haven't. |
| daver | posted 27-Jan-1999 6:39am Both ears, my nose was briefly pierced, and few "others". |
| jettles | posted 27-Jan-1999 9:37am i have 4 piercings in one ear and 1 in the other. having anything else pierced has not appealed to me. i am considering have 2 more piercings in the ear with the 4 though. |
| jjg | posted 27-Jan-1999 9:49am Left ear for nine years now. I'll sometimes go an entire year with out wearing it, which makes new friends think that I have recently gotten my ear pierced. |
| dpolicar | posted 27-Jan-1999 10:54am Don't now, never have, don't expect ever to. |
| lovenlife | posted 27-Jan-1999 11:36am I love body art...what better way to make yourself feel better. It just "proves" the fact that your body is your temple and we can do WHATEVER we want to with it!! :) Go self expression!!!!! |
| gilly | posted 27-Jan-1999 2:07pm Three in the right ear lobe, one lobe and one cartilage in the left, and one "other". The cartilage was by far the worst in terms of pain and healing time. |
| lizzie | posted 27-Jan-1999 4:25pm I have pierced ears, but that's it. I don't understand the allure of piercing other body parts, especially genitalia. |
| gilly | posted 27-Jan-1999 5:13pm lizzie: sensation, for one thing. Aesthetics, for another. |
| Mimi | posted 27-Jan-1999 6:51pm I am out of the loop here, pierced genitalia?....sensation?....aesthetics? Can you say PAIN? |
| eris | posted 27-Jan-1999 7:46pm Re: PAIN - I haven't tried any of the more unusual piercings, but my impression is that genitalia are actually one of the less painful ones (like just above ears), and that nipples are supposed to be tops for pain. Of course, some folk like pain... I suspect someone with more experience could (and probably will) comment here. |
| pandora | posted 27-Jan-1999 7:52pm I have only above the neck piercings, but of those, ear cartilage and septum piercings were the most painful. I imagine that the tongue would be incredibly painful, but around here at least, there's an anesthetic shot. That hurts pretty bad anyway though. |
| lelle | posted 27-Jan-1999 8:05pm I have my ears pierced, and a few "others". I don't have any facial piercings, both because I don't think they would look right on me, and because I would constantly play with them, which would annoy both me and everyone around me. :) I sewed some beads onto my finger once, which really squicks people. :) |
| gilly | posted 27-Jan-1999 8:07pm Sure, the actual piercing hurts (quite a bit, in fact), but not for long. (And trust me, I'm a real wimp, so if I survived, anyone could.) But certain piercings really can provide pleasure or make things more sensitive. And personally, I really like the way mine looks, and I liked the way it looks on my ex-girlfriend, too. |
| bill | posted 28-Jan-1999 8:05am "your body is your temple and we can do WHATEVER we want to with it" - I think that's mixed-up/reversed. I thought the point of "your body is a temple" is that you're not suppose to defile it, it's sacred. |
| Jody | posted 28-Jan-1999 10:00am bill - I'm with you. My body is a temple, not an amusement park. |
| eris | posted 28-Jan-1999 11:59am ...but is piercing defilement or glorification? Can't my body be both a temple and an amusement park? The good Lord (apologies to the irreligious and polytheistic) made things fun and pleasurable for a reason. |
| pandora | posted 28-Jan-1999 3:09pm Something I just recently heard about, which I thought was kinda strange, is that people pierce the webbing of their hand, like between their thumb and index finger. I haven't seen it in person yet, but it's a place I would never think to pierce. It seems like it would take for-e-ver to heal too. |
| daver | posted 28-Jan-1999 3:27pm **pandora: I have inadvertently "pierced" that spot and it did indeed take forever to heal. |
| presti | posted 1-Feb-1999 2:00pm Just my ears. I used to have my belly button and my nose pierced. Then I grew out of that phase. |
| drdt | posted 11-Feb-1999 12:24pm lovenlife, eris, bill: usually temples are dedicated to something, and the people doing the dedication have distinct ideas about what is ok and not ok to do to or in the temple. The question is, to what diety/ies or concepts is your body a temple? |
| sam | posted 11-Feb-1999 12:45pm i had a lovely genital pierce until my metal allergies forced me to let it go. the sensation, once it healed, was indescribable. the actual piercing was not as a bad as i expected. |
| anonymous | posted 19-Feb-1999 5:02am I kinda object to the use of "coward." Some people look good with them and/or enjoy having them. I don't. Doesn't mean I judge people based on it. |
| supplicant | posted 21-Feb-1999 11:28am I don't have anything pierced and don't want to have anything pierced as I don't think it would really suit me. |
| mandy | posted 10-Apr-1999 5:06pm My ears are pierced.... three in one two in the other....I used to have a piercing on the top of one ear but I took it out.... My tongue was pierced for over a year...it was fun! took it out to...ahhhh what's next? eyebrow mebbe.. |
| pandora | posted 11-Apr-1999 9:40pm mandy, it doesn't hurt, so I don't know if you would enjoy it. I was glad though. I'm not into painful activities. Of any kind. |
