Are your religious beliefs (or lack of them) the same as those of your parents?

BrianW asked a similar question in http://surveycentral.org/survey/6301.html, but this particular question has a more narrow focus.

By "the same", it doesn't have to mean identical - for example, if your parents were Orthodox Jews and you're a member of the Reform synagogue, that counts as the same (although you might want to expand on this in your comments). I'm interested in religions (or atheism/agnosticism) at the general level, not specific denominations or subgroups.

Well, you wouldn't want to cast your vote for the candidate that you really want to represent you. That would be subversive! * surprise *

What do you think this is? A democracy or something?!! * wink *

Parents believed you had to go to church every week to be a good christian. I think it's baloney, man-made concept. Church is a business, like it or not. I don't patronize their establishments.

I am non-denominational, my mom is new age spiritual and my dad is agnostic. I should point out I am not Atheist, and I print my reason in big, bold letters.

To be an Atheist, literally, means you do not believe in anything.

I ask any atheist out there...do you believe in yourself? In anything at all? Ask any linguist worth their salt, and you'll know that it means to not believe in anything. You cannot be an atheist. Because if you are, then you can't believe that you don't believe in anything. You have to not exist to be an atheist.

It actually means "godless" - just look in a dictionary.

As I said, talk to any linguist and find the root. Or just look in an old dictionary, or at least a big one that has all the meanings. As well, I should note that that would make Taoists (among other faiths) Atheists, but they are not. Some religions don't have Gods.

One more thing...I must admit that, at it's base, atheist means that you have an abscence of theistic belief (thus, prefix a- theist). It is also impossible to have no theological (aka theistic) belief. What do you believe will happen in your afterlife? If you say nothing, that is still a belief. Even if you are indifferent, that is still applying the belief that you either don't need or don't want to believe.

Hell no.

My father currently thinking about entering the OGD, after his long investigation.
My mother is a Christian Fundamentalist.
I... well... I don't know... I like things about LaVey's Satanism, you know, the whole idea of the revenge and not loving everyone, but I am also really drawn to the fact that some religions allow you to practice magic.

La Vey is only the anti-thesis of catholocism though, which in a way validates catholocism. In the opinion of some religions, all we do is magic, and therefore it is more responsible to recognise that fact and manifest only good magic. Prayers for healing, society, etc. are a form of magic, though they wouldn't want such a label. What is 'OGD'?

I actually have no single religion I practice, I just sort of drift in and out of them. I have been (and still am to some extent): Catholic, Mormon, Buddhist/Taoist, Pagan, Humanist, and general Atheist. (By the way, if you have any questions about these or religion in general, I've studied a lot of religions and might be able to help you [quezacotle@hotmail.com]).

Ah, then you should know that quetzalcoatl relates to pharoah khufus cartouche sun bird slug bird which relates to jod-he-vav-heh = jehovah = yahweh = the white spirit native chant yah he vaw hey = the four horus time ship elemental quadrants of the heavans, and the threefold trinty is the logos is the spanda karikas is the top of the tree-of-life, is the three gunas, is... and the radio sings 'I am a question, not an answer to the world'. 'Cephius', interesting. sounds like Qasariel.
hmm.. interesting. not in the book, but on a web search, first entry is cephius smith/clementine, clemens being my birth last name this life Thor Clemens, followed by Thor Smith, and for the last 9 years, Kristal Rose Phoenix McKinstry. Looks like I leave the planet for half a day, and already I have a replacement here if I want to retire. search includes: tachyons, an ecclipsing binary system, a robot quadrant, a colorado pagan, a blizzard lizard..
Well, reading shows ace of cups, great love in your emotional, high priestess in your intellectual, a strong earth element, some fire. Quetzalcoatl is where the sky and earth waters mix (oh yeah, relates to Garuda too, a cobra eating chicken which presides over haarp/tesla tech (relates to kabbalistic gollums, arc, metatron)), and if you really know your qz, you know of crystal earth migration, like out-of-body, but teleporting consciousness through matter itself. Sounds like you picked the right name.
All is God. Time creates matter. Consciousness creates time.
