Let's have a Survey Central potluck supper. What food or drink will you bring?

potluck: A meal at which each guest brings food that is then shared by all. Also called potluck supper. Do you have a specialty that you would like to share with the rest of us? If so, please do so. * smile *

Dabbs! Oh! Oh...there you are, Dabbs. Shucks! You just missed Kristal Rose. Yes huh! Yes huh! I did too talk to her just now, yes huh!
She said to say 'hello', in fact. And she said to be nice to me when she finally does show up - the second time, I mean. In fact, she asked me to not call her through my telepathy any more - I was coming in way too strong.
Yes huh! Yes huh! Dabbs, yes huh! I'm very sure it was Kristal Rose I was talking to.
She left because I couldn't remember why I was calling her.

And she didn't really say to tell you 'hi', I was just being nice. Yes huh yes huh yes huh yes huh!

How's that fire up in Oregon?

We have one down here a few miles south of me in Julian. * frown *
darkshadowsseeker
(reply to Cleo) posted 1-Aug-2002 7:37pm
Which fire? We have ones going on in the area of Sisters, Oregon (95% contained), smaller ones near the Coburg Hills and the Oakridge/Westfir area, one near The Dalles, Oregon and the biggest ones are the Florence Creek/Sour Bisquit fires near Cave Junction, Oregon. They are the two worrisome fires as they are both large and are within just a couple of miles of merging. If they merge it's gonna get REALLY bad! All the fires we currently have going are caused by lightning with the exception of the Coburg Hills and Oakridge/Westfir fires. Their cause is as yet unknown, but I suspect that the Coburg Hills fire was probably caused by human hand as the land is owned jointly by Weyerhauser and the BLM. In the case of the Sisters/Black Butte fire...the people were allowed to return to their homes Wednesday and in the Cave Junction area they have been evacuating a refuge and rehabilitation center for abused and retired animals. Most of the people in Cave Junction are ready to evacuate at a moment's notice if the two fires merge.

You know this was in reference to how often I end up back here, don't you? (Not to your food! I'd NEVER!)
Then, Kate kept making me want to juke all over the place, she was really no help at all, she was antagonizing. Yes huh!
Hey! Let's surprise Dino with something! Anything! We'll go through with how to do just two impressive things - even if we have to write them down, just for the joke on Dino.
Oh, boy! This is gonna be so GREAT! How abooooouuut...?

1) Taking and pasting an emoticon from a distant site, aaaaaaand...
2) Doing an italics or bold in your text.

If you're interested, #2 is sooooo simple!
There is "open bold" (or "open italics", whichever you're doing), then "close bold" (or "close italics"), that's it!

Open bold: Place this before the word you want bolded
Close bold:
Place this after the word you want bolded

That's it! If you're doing italics, it's the same thing! Just put an "I" where the "B" is above. Wanna try it? Come on! Please oh please oh please!

Geeze Kate I had no idea that you guys had SO many going on. We only have the one (located a few miles from here). Are any of them in your general area?? From where I am I an see the white smoke over the mountains. Still a ways away tho. I'm not worried about it cause they have it 50 percent contained. * smile *
darkshadowsseeker
(reply to Cleo) posted 4-Aug-2002 3:55pm
The Coburg Hills fire (which they haven't released a cause for yet) and the Oakridge/Westfir fires aren't that far away. The Oakridge/Westfir (which was caused by vandals messing with Bonneville Power Administration power transformers) is pretty well gone and the Coburg Hills fire (which is the closest to me) is as well. I could see the smoke from the Coburg Hills fire, but then the hills are quite visable where I live so that's no big surprise.
Cleo
(reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 4-Aug-2002 4:03pm
Ohhhhhhhh! Your a little close tho. * frown * The first day the fires started here I could smell *& see the smoke. The next day, the sun was like a blood red. Scary! Almost biblical like. I could barely see the smoke this morning but, then again it's still early.
darkshadowsseeker
(reply to Cleo) posted 4-Aug-2002 4:30pm
I'm just glad I don't live in Cave Junction (where the Sour Bisquit/Florence Creek fires are). They have an air inversion and the whole Illinois Valley area is thick with the smoke from the fires. It's thick enough from what I've read that the sun can't be seen.
Cleo
(reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 4-Aug-2002 4:53pm
WOW! That IS thick! The only other time that I've ever experienced a fire that bad, was back in '95' We had ashes falling down around us for 2 or 3 days.Boy was that scary! The fire was in a little city called Winchester about 12 miles from here. The air was thick with the smell of burning wood for days after. Didn't lose to many homes just a lot of forest like trees.
darkshadowsseeker
(reply to Cleo) posted 4-Aug-2002 5:41pm

You getting any ashes around you??
darkshadowsseeker
(reply to Cleo) posted 4-Aug-2002 6:13pm
No, the 2 smaller fires near me didn't produce that much ash and didn't burn that much. I just read on CNN.com that the Cave Junction fire is now the largest in the nation. Cave Junction is quite a bit south of us, but here is a link showing you how bad the visability is there: http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/08/04/oregon.wildfires/index.html

Just replace the "b" there with an "i", and you get (type this):

This is italics

Now, tomorrow, just casually insert that into conversation with Dino! On words you want to stress!

YAY YAY YAY, DABBS!
