| daver | posted 5-Aug-1998 2:25pm Of those listed, chinese, but I don't really consider chinese to be fast food. For "regular" fast food-type places, my favorite would be Arby's. |
| steve | posted 5-Aug-1998 3:41pm My own cooking is certainly better, but that's not the question. Also, several of these are favorites for different things--e.g. I had to choose Dunkin Donuts, since you only let us choose one and I literally go there every day, but that's only for coffee; the fact that I get "food" there has more to do with wanting to buffer my stomach a little than any kind of fondness for their "food." I love Pizza Hut, but rarely eat there. Burger King is a fine quick and easy and utterly predictable meal when that's what I want. This should have been multiple choice. |
| lizzie | posted 5-Aug-1998 3:46pm I'm partial to TGIFridays lately, but my own cooking is always better. |
| jjg | posted 5-Aug-1998 4:33pm I'm partial to the Olive Garden. |
| lisashea | posted 5-Aug-1998 4:37pm Fast food OR restaurant? I think this is a series of repeat surveys all badly rolled into one :) My favorite restaurant is probably Sakura Tokyo, a Japanese restaurant. High quality sushi. Fast Food? Maybe Wendy's for the baked potato. The mall one is "Sarku". jjg: I agree, Olive Garden is tasty. I just object because it's only one of a trillion restaurants! Even hundreds, if you just count "restaurant chains". Why was it chosen for the list? Why weren't the rest? |
| eris | posted 5-Aug-1998 4:54pm Well, my own cooking doesn't qualify as fast, but it's *much* better... |
| bpersei | posted 5-Aug-1998 5:02pm McDonald's, with any mexican restaurant in close second. |
| ron2112 | posted 5-Aug-1998 6:58pm Ackk! No "other..." choice! There's a chain of Japanese places that I can't remember the name of; you find them in a lot of mall food courts. They're pretty good. Of the choices given, I had to pick "my own cooking" although it isn't typically very fast. Aside from that I'll usually hit Taco Bell - those Gorditas are actually very good, especially the Santa Fe (it has corn in it, which I find very cool). However, I have to admit that I am also quite enamored of BK's Big Fish sandwich. ***lisashea and bill: Yes! That's it! What can I say, they're generic, but I like it. Just stay away from anything Tempura... |
| kadai | posted 5-Aug-1998 7:56pm Ya know, they don't have dunkin' donuts in California. This is not a bad thing... |
| bill | posted 5-Aug-1998 8:23pm Olive Garden, fast food? Jen and I call it "Glum Garden" because everyone was waiting to sit down and they were all frowning. I hate movie food - it's a real problem when I go to a movie at night and need to eat and all I can eat is popcorn and candy. ** Ron, Sarku Tokyo? - with the chicken chunks covered in sweet brown sauce that's remarkably like the "Big Easy"'s Bourbon chicken chunks covered in a sweet brown sauce which is remarkably like the Mall-Chinese-food restaurant's sweet and "sour" chicken... etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.... ** Kadai, you should come back to the east coast immediately! |
| Mimi | posted 5-Aug-1998 9:29pm The only fast food restaurant I like is Taco Bueno, but I think they must only be in this area of north Texas cause I've never been able to find them anywhere else in Texas or around the country. They make something called a Muchaco that we just love. It's somewhat like a Gordito (those are awful) except it has a thick soft bread instead of those cardboardy things Taco Bell has & the fillings are much better. Plus Taco Bueno has a salsa bar with lots of jalepenos & salsa & hot sauce & onions! Yum. |
| debian | posted 5-Aug-1998 10:18pm Taco Bell 7 layer burrito |
| kirst | posted 6-Aug-1998 8:03am I picked Taco Bell (if I'm desperate for fast food). However I prefer to go to independent restaurants. There are too many chains. |
| seven | posted 6-Aug-1998 8:17am It's impossible to choose one. There are several I don't ever go to, but usually I'm in the mood for something specific, and I go to that restaurant |
| lelle | posted 6-Aug-1998 9:40am I'm not fond of 'fast food'... If anything, a grinder from Tech Pizza (or similar). |
| Atzilut | posted 6-Aug-1998 12:10pm none of the above. |
| romkey | posted 6-Aug-1998 1:11pm Chinese food isn't generally fast food, unless it's some place like "Wok In". I don't have a favorite fast food place; I hate fast food. I'll eat it sometimes just because I need something to get my blood sugar up. |
| Jody | posted 7-Aug-1998 1:57pm I really like Boston Market best...
*** RE: tech pizza - are we a bunch of former (some still) Worcesterites or what? |
| jonas | posted 7-Aug-1998 1:58pm Tech Pizza in Worcester has the best veggie grinders. Of the ones listed, I'd say Dunkin Donuts because bringing home doughnuts and coffee to go with Sunday morning breakfast is a tradition for me. That's all the fast food I ever eat. |
| glen | posted 7-Aug-1998 6:00pm Well, my own cooking is better, but I do occasionally get serious fast-food cravings. Generally it's for a Whopper, sorry to say.... Chinese "fast food" is generally pretty sucky, although I love good chinese food. In fact, I may very well get some this evening for dinner, now that you mention it... |
| RatQueen | posted 8-Aug-1998 4:15pm Well I CHECKED McDonalds. But where is the OTHER option? There's this place down the street, an Italian resaurant, called Nero's. I don't know if it's a chain or not, but I like it. |
| cpierson | posted 11-Aug-1998 11:19am Harvey's is the best fast-food burger chain going. Of course, they don't have it here in the States. |
| reality | posted 11-Aug-1998 11:57am it is actually, anywhere, with restrictions. I don't eat at wendy's. Dunkin Donuts is part of a HUGE conspiracy (or so my own paranoia and warped imagination tells me), so the only time I go there is when I crave a particular kind of donut. I don't think that there should have been an option for 'my own cooking' since you were asking about fast food... should have just been an 'other' or 'I don't eat fast food'. by default my own cooking is better than fast food. |
| jer | posted 11-Aug-1998 4:55pm mmm.. tortilla sam's |
| Resy | posted 12-Aug-1998 10:26pm nice list ... eating out, we often choose chinese, but my husband and i both cook and that's much better for us. |
| nbarone | posted 3-Sep-1998 7:38pm this is a good single-option survey except that (a)it lacks an "other" catagory and (b) the "my cooking is better" option doesn't fit. if i tell you that my cooking is better (which, for most of us is going to be the case) then i can't vote for my favorite fast food joint (mcdonalds). |
| mross | posted 5-Feb-2007 2:03pm I picked the option for my own cooking because there wasn't an option for putting in my favorite restaurant. I don't consider Chinese food to be fast. When I get Chinese, it takes at least a half hour to get my food after I put my order in. |
