My apartment (with three residents) has three phone lines: one dialout line for me, one "dialout" line for one of my roommates (though he rarely uses it for that, now that he has a cable modem), and one common line. Four phones in the house (one of which is a 2-line phone), and an answering machine. I also have a cellular phone (why do people keep saying "I'm sorry" when I mention it? It's not for work, I don't have to keep it turned on, and have it mostly in case of auto emergencies). *** JONAS: Besides emergencies, beepers/cell phones are useful when you need to hook up with someone at an impossible-to-predict time. (I tend to pick up people coming in from out of town at subway or bus stations a lot. The cell phone lets me do whatever I'd normally be doing while I wait for them, instead of remaining shackled to the phone in my house for a couple of hours.) That said, however... being -required- to carry a beeper/cell phone is the very PINNACLE of evil. I'll shut mine off whenever I damn well please, thank you. | Telephony
Babylon 5, hands down. No contest. (And I -like- the fifth season. So there. ;) | Which sci-fi television series do you like most (the list is not all inclusive):
I'd better leave a comment here, since I just claimed that I usually do... :) | When you're dealing with a survey on Survey Central, do you...
I can't say that I have an opinion on this. Not in terms of a particular style, anyway... there are beautiful and hideous version of each of these choices. | What kind of wedding dress do you think is the most beautiful?
Sight, almost certainly. Though physical contact is -very- important to me, so I'd probably rate that second. (I tend to give/receive a lot of hugs. When I can't -- because I'm sick, or what have you -- I tend to go a little bit nuts.) *** ROMKEY: Agreed, but that wasn't what I meant. I was trying to imagine how much it'd affect me if I lost each of the senses (not a pleasant thought), and I realized that if I lost the sensation of touch, it'd -really- mess me up. Totally and completely. I think only the loss of my sight would have a greater effect... and for that reason, I'd rank it as my secondary sense -- I depend on it that much. | Which is your primary sense?
Ok, two problems with this. One: I have never answered this question the same way twice. Two: I'd have to pick a first name that didn't actually sound ridiculous (and flows well) when followed by my (somewhat unusual) last name. Let's see, what can I answer that I haven't before? How about Leanne for a girl and Kevin for a boy? I had to think on the boy's name for a lot longer... I can think of a half dozen or so girls' names that I like off the top of my head (Ashley, Natalie, Nicole, Leah, Erica...), but I don't care for all that many boys' names. Weird. | If you had to name a child, what would you name it?
Average. Unless the fact that I've driven in Massachusetts for five years and have never gotten into an accident that was my fault (I got rearended at a stoplight once, that's it) qualifies me for "above average." Looking at the cavalcade of idiocy passing by on the roads here, maybe it does... *** Ha! I -didn't- fall into the inflated self-assessment category. :) | Rate your driving ability: (Cars only; no bikes, hovercraft, tanks, etc.)
The scientist bit. (Not that I have any hope of that, mind you.) That'd be the most beneficial to the people around me, I think... | If it were possible, I'd most like to become...
Kindness, Honesty/Integrity, Loyalty, Humor, and Similar Values. (Although for me, "Values" would be better described as "Priorities," I think.) Very good survey... I'd be interested to know how these numbers line up against those for a potential significant other. *** JONAS: True enough, but a "loyal" friend would not necessarily be -blindly- loyal. Loyalty and Honesty are not mutually exclusive, and I prefer my friends to be both... loyal to me, so long as I'm not being a complete idiot. | What qualities are most important in a prospective friend? Please choose no more than five.
No pattern. I've been on both ends (multiple times in the same relationship, even). I don't think I'll get the chance to add any more data points to that curve, either (he says, knocking on wood). *** LIZZIE: Hey! No fair stealing my answer before I got a chance to enter it. (Especially given the irony of it all... ;) | In the past, when my romantic relationships have come to an end...
