#CommentSurvey
691I don't know what I think. Except that I'm not terribly grateful for the song.War, what is it good for?
692I said "No." I'm not opposed to the idea; I'm even sort of in favor of it, and I've seen it really help people, but the fact is that I'm completely lame (in the figurative sense; I walk quite well) and I know myself well enough to know that even if I intend to do so, I won't actually GET one.
***jjg/reality: the antibodies themselves do eventually get pretty completely depleted, but the cells that make those specific antibodies, once stimulated by their targets, produce "memory" cells that cruise your bloodstream for approximately the rest of your life, ready to divide and swing into full production at a moment's notice.
***I've now changed my answer to "Yes," since I did, in fact, get one. They're free to hospital employees, and I noticed a sign announcing this while I was going to get Coke(tm), and realized that it was going on just then, and that I could just go and get one, free, right then, so I did.
Will you get a flu shot?
693Let's see, where to start with the problems with this survey? Well, it's a repeat, for one; I know that we're not supposed to dog about repeat surveys any more, and I restrained myself on the last one, but this bugs me. These questions are yes-no, making it difficult to tell which check boxes you're supposed to check. And what the fudge does Deja Vu (a fairly straightforward neurological tick, which happens to just about everyone at some time) have to do with all this other superstitious garbage? And I've witnessed many phenomena. Right now, the cursor is flashing; that's a phenomenon.Life after Death.
694I would like to die by injected barbiturate overdose, as I've mentioned before. If I were going to shoot myself, I'd probably do it in the mouth, aiming for through-the-brainstem. (Don't shoot yourself in the temples, folks; it's a great way to leave a living but vegetative corpse around for your loved ones to deal with.) I'm too much of a wimp to cut myself; I wouldn't want to take pills as I could throw up before absorbing a lethal dose and wind up alive but brain-damaged; throwing yourself in front of a moving vehicle is wildly cruel and selfish; I hate the feeling of free fall.Think of the worst thing that could possibly happen to you..virtually earth shattering...what is your preferred method of Suicide?
695You don't really need to see my comment, now do you? What kinds of TV shows do you like?
696I feel that a lot of these choices are too digital for me; for example, I recently bought a suit (!) and I went to Filene's Basement during a sale, rather than having something custom-sewn for me, then picked what I liked of the choices there. Similarly, what I wear is obviously a function of who I am, in that if I were someone else I would have different tastes and would have chosen something different, but that is so trivially obvious that I feel you must have meant something more like "My clothing expresses something fundamental about myself" and I don't hold with that. And again, there's a huge void between looking to people to help me decide what to buy and no one influencing me "in any meaningful way." Sorry for the non-answer, but I'm in the middle on all of these. What best characterizes your sense of fashion?
697About two and a half blocks. How long is your commute?
698I really don't know. Our styles, skills, and industries are so different, I'm having trouble imagining what it would be like. I think it would be great; that I would leave any organizational tasks to him, rather than infuriate him with my disordered approach to life, and find compensatory tasks that capitalize on my strengths (chiefly visual pattern recognition and fine motor skills). I work with a good friend of mine now, an old housemate from college, and it's just great; our relationship is subtly different when we're at work or outside it, in a way that neither of us planned, but we don't let work stuff interfere with our friendship. Can you "work" with your Significant Other?
699How about "No, never; I get plenty of gossip in my life."Do you read or participate in rumor/gossip sites on the Internet?
700There are elements of the first two in my feelings; I'm fine with people putting anything they want into food, as long as it's clearly labelled. I have no intention of eating Olestra, or Nutrasweet, or any other fake food; when I want fewer calories, I'll eat less food, thank you very much. I do object to advertising that plays down the less pleasant aspects of a food additive (like anal seepage!!!), but then I tend to object to advertising, period. How far should humans go in the creation and consumption of Artificial Food?
