The way this is worded, it sounds like the clone has not the power or possibly maturity to consent. And so it seems like we should consider this an abusive situation and oppose it, not because it's "my" clone but clones, as human beings, should not be subject to abuse. But there are a lot of ways to read this scenario, that's just the way I took it. | What if someone cloned you?
Sometimes I want to hear the music I liked in high school or college, but the best thing is to discover new music to enjoy. And some of that old music I'd be happy to never hear again, the percentage of really good stuff to dreck remains pretty constant over time. I don't buy that much music, so it's hard to really tell from my CD collection. | Do you suffer from Music Time-Warp Syndrome?

Best in what way though? It's clear to me (and I've got 3 kids in public school) that public schooling is an important part of the cohesiveness of the (geographical) community I live in. And I don't think that private schools necessarily do a better job. I think in general private schools are more economically and racially segregated than even the public schools. Religious schools are Right Out, I can't imagine one I could live with. But I've been very attracted to the idea of home schooling my kids. What could they do with their time if they didn't waste any of it on time-sucking busywork? What if all their work were things that they chose and committed to? I see them achieving reasonably well in school but not being really challenged. And they have to fit their creative/exploratory impulses in on the side. I have not reformatted my life to make that possible, though if I thought that school was really damaging one of the kids (and I've seen that happen) I would have to come up with an alternative. | Which kind of primary school do you think is best?
Some home school theorists, John Holt for one, think that the kind of "socialization" that school offers is destructive to many kids. There is a lot of bullying and cruel behavior that goes on. I don't think my friend that got stuffed in a locker in jr. high thinks that improved his ability to get on with others. However, I have seen kids figure out how to navigate difficult social situations, to make friends and be able to be happy in different social situations. As far as I could see, that was experience that they wouldn't have had, or at least not at that time, without being in school. | Which kind of primary school do you think is best?
I agree with a lot of points you make -- actually it sounds like we mostly agree. I did enjoy the intellectual challenges of school but I never really found the right social spot until college. Glad you're enjoying it, though. | Which kind of primary school do you think is best?
I checked "something else would be much worse" -- something else being "unreliable" or "untrustworthy" or something of that ilk. | Would you be more insulted to be called stupid, or to be called ugly?
It would bother me less if there were a clear relationship between loss to the rental company and the fine. But you are already responsible for your own speeding tickets, and for any damage to the car, so they are just imposing another charge on driving their cars. | Is it OK for a rental car company to track you with a GPS system and charge you money every time you speed?
