irene/persephone: Do you mean adenoids? | What type(s) of surgery have you had?
Otherwise you may be referring to a UPPP: Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty - which removes the uvula(dangly thing in your throat), redundant tissue in the throat and palate and reconstructs what is left...usually done on very heavy people, those who snore, (real bad) and/or those with a sleep apnea. | What type(s) of surgery have you had?
irene007: UPPP is usually for overweight people (think of overweight in the throat, too...) and you are absolutely correct that you do not have to be heavy to snore. However, if you are not overweight, you should consider having an ENT doctor have a look at your turbinates inside your nose (3 scroll-like mucous-membrane covered bones). Sometimes, this is the cause of the snoring. If they are enlarged, or enflamed, etc. they will hinder the movement of air through the nose, making you breath through your mouth, thus causing snoring. Turbinates can be removed completely (not the best option) or can be cauterized which in turn causes shrinkage of them as they heal and scar down. This is a relatively minor procedure which seems to help some but not all. You may also consider (if you have not already) allergies. I am laughing at your little story - you are lucky!!! Trust me, there are worse side effects than that as a result of UPPP... And lastly, yes, funny talking about noses. Perhaps you are thinking of a "rhinoplasty"!!! The connection is that I "do, help, and/or assist" in surgery for a living. Very nice talking with you, I hope this was a help to you. Thank you. | What type(s) of surgery have you had?
LOL irene - it sure can! I should have said before (in case you don't already know) a rhinoplasty is more commonly known as a "nose job." I have a little "rhino nose mask" I would wear to work at halloween and I would go around all day saying, "I think I need a rhinoplasty"!!! It was funny, but got old fast... | What type(s) of surgery have you had?
Irene: I am sorry to say I did not get to wear it this year. All my rhinos are packed at the moment. Here in the US we just call them ENT's. They used to be EENT (eye, ear, nose, throat) but eyes are treated separately from ENT now. Yes, we also have similar terms: otolaryngologist (ear, throat) otorhinolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat) ophthomologist (eye diseases) optometrist (eye glasses) Just for fun I thought I would tell you the proper name for a facelift. Only because it is such a strange thing: rhytidectomy. Isn't that weird? | What type(s) of surgery have you had?
I wish people would move on and stop living in the past. Most of what they are talking about did not even happen in their lifetime, or even to anyone in their family let alone anyone that they know of period. I think it perpetuates racism, hate, etc. I think it is very sad, too. I think we, as a human race, will never "get to a higher level" if we can't let it go. Imagine whirled peas. | How do you feel about guilt passed down through ancestry?
I thoroughly clean it once in awhile - gets clean when I shower. But I do look at it occasionally and it always looks clean. | Do you thoroughly clean your belly button (navel) every time you bathe?
Zang: Do you mean an ATM? If so, I was not aware you could do that. Are you in a different country than the US? Thank you. | How do you pay your bills?
Galomorro: I wish I would have thought of payroll deduction as an option. I am sorry I missed that one now. Hopefully anyone else that utilizes that method will indicate it in their comment as you have. Thank You. | How do you pay your bills?
Telephone Bill Pay service. I have not written a check or bought more than 30 stamps in almost six years. | How do you pay your bills?
