| 30 | OK, my favorite cover seems to be KMFDM's "Mysterious Ways". As they say at the beginning, It's even better than the real thing! As th the worst, I don't have an opinion. There's just so much dreck out there. Remember the three rules of covers: Do it different. Do it better. or Do "Dancing in the Streets... I've been listening to a lot of plunder and recontexturalized music lately. It's almost the opposite of a cover. Instead of taking a song and re-recording it in their own style, these people take a recording or several and mix it all up to make something different. It's really shaky legally and perhaps morally, but some of it's pretty cool. Of course a lot of it is almost un-listenable. Detritus has an archive of some of the better including banned KLF, Negitiveland, and Plunderphonics. On another part of their site is some really cool stuff by The Evolution Control Committee. I highly recommend tracks 1 and 9. Tracks 6, 7, and 13 are cool too, but in a re-edited speech kind of way... | What are your favorite and least favorite cover tunes? |
