_Desolation Angels_ (Kerouac), _Foucault's Pendulum_ (Eco) -- having a hard time slogging through this one, _Object Oriented Design_ (forgot the author). | What book(s) are you reading right now? Would you recommend them to others?
Just a wee bit more than 5MB of mail: from a "du -k" in my Mail dir: 17894KB. It's my machine, so :P.. And yeah, I used to be sorta l33t. No shame there. And I had my account suspended a long time ago on a 12-line BBS run by the Worcester Public School system, for saying "couche avec moi ce soir?" to a girl I knew on there. Mind you, I was about 11 or 12 at the time... | Internet Hall of Shame. Maybe you only did it once, maybe it was a decade ago, and maybe you regretted it later -- but chances are, you did at least one of these. Tell us about it. Have you ever...
"Manos... The Hands of Fate" .. I was terrified that anyone could actually *make* such a thing. | Has a work of fiction (as an adult) ever truly terrified you?
Unfortunately, I think I aspired to work at Radio Shack. Fortunately, I ended up becoming an electrical/computer engineer. | When you were little, "What did you want to be when you grew up?"
I used to have ISDN before I moved to the sticks. I also used to have a 10MB ether drop (T1 by proxy, sorta) when I was in school. About four years ago, I took the freebie NYNEX Caller ID box they sent me, attacked it with an oscilloscope, converted it give RS232 output, and wrote some Linux driver software for it... From that point on, when the phone range, it'd look up the # in a database, and if it had a match, play a specific WAV file.. If no match, it would string together WAV files of me speaking the numbers.. Needless to say, this geek escapade freaked people out.. *ring* .. "Pick up the phone, this is god calling!" I agree with the convenience of cell phones.. Mine's not a leash, it's only on when I want it to be. | Telephony
I prefer the X Files.. The quality is variable between episodes, but the show has dual appeal.. Each episode is relatively self-contained, and doesn't require the dutiful watching that B5 does. At the same time, when the episodes are taken as a whole, a much larger and more interesting picture opens up for you. Obligatory Gillian Anderson comments deleted. | Which sci-fi television series do you like most (the list is not all inclusive):
It's all about sounds for me. I think touch might be a close second. | Which is your primary sense?
Since the bulk of Massachusetts drivers aspire for mediocrity, I don't feel too bad rating myself above average, even if I've only been terrorizing the roads since Aug97... (Ask me about getting my license at age 22.. that was interesting) | Rate your driving ability: (Cars only; no bikes, hovercraft, tanks, etc.)
I'd say it's about a 70/30 split (no pun intended).. More heavily weighted towards me doing the breaking off. Of course, if you count amount of long-term mental damage, that 30% caused more than 70% of the damage.. :) | In the past, when my romantic relationships have come to an end...
This sort of goes from Other to Christian-Catholic .. My parents were kind enough to kind of leave it up to me to decide. Of course, I feel this, combined with my natural geek nature made athesim/agnosticism obvious choices.. So by doing nothing, they kind of did something...? | With which religion beliefs were you raised?
