Or remind her that where she works probably no one will be able to get her an expensive gift on what they make there and either try to change the meals (a bar-b-que would be perfect) or just let her accept the meaning instead of the price of gifts....as a last resort I would team up with someone to buy a gift and definately let everyone know about the conversation. just as elijahblue said I'm a student and can't really afford to get something expensive no matter what I pay. A good friend would understand that. emily: not catty at all!!! I mean my aunt is happy her 4th marriage has worked out and my mom and grandma and I spend a lot of our own money on extras for her wedding as soon as we realized they were perfect and knew they were gonna last. | 47 | my fiancee and I are planning a celtic wedding. Just the simple catholic ceremony and since my grandma's house is perfect for the reception....a bar-b-que and dancing. Mom's making the invitations (she does stamping and they look professional at about 1/10 the cost), dad's doing the cooking, my aunt is doing the music (since I did it for hers), my cousin is asking around work for tables and chairs and such and the only thing we're doing ourselves is the cake (which mom's doing all but the bottom layer, just because she wants to!!!) and a few little touches like napkins and helping grandma plant January flowers for her garden. | What kind of wedding ceremony would like to have? |

| 50 | Hey, you have to know what you like before you should buy it. Most people only learn what they like because someone else treated them to it. Hence the tastings....but that does lose money for the company and drives up the wine prices. I know that I would have to do a tasting before I buy wine.
