At times it may seem this way, but if the parents absolutly can't deal with a disabled child then the quality of life for that child, if born, would probably be low and it would not be fair to the child... However, a majority of people who have the testing done (in Sweden I am not sure about here) will keep a disabled child, as long as it can live a full filling life. (Meaning if the child is so disabled that it won't live for more than a couple of months it is most probably aborted). I guess it all comes down to if you are willing to keep the child and want a child then you are ok with the responsibilities that accompanies that, if you aren't ready then you shouldn't have a child disabled or not. | Does pre-natal testing send the message that "no life is preferable to disabled life"? |
