Other: it depends on where I am and when. 20-30 years ago in Brazil? No way! (I'm told they have gotten better.) The police force around here (Boston Area, MA/USA) has received some complaints from the locals, but I trust them and think they are fine. | In general, do you trust the police?
I really dislike questions like that, that exaggerate one or more points, like someone will die with no dog or from allergies. Given that most people can in fact take at least one brand of antihistamines for at least a couple of hours (I know a lot of them make me ill if taken for extended periods like days) I'd say make the allergic person (I'm allergic to several things including cats but not dogs) leave. Most handicapped people can in fact survive without their dogs for a couple of hours, so another option is to put the dog in another room for a while. Besides, the allergic person not only can go out and take medication and come back, *but* removing the dog will hardly help them if they are *deathly* allergic given that there'll be dog hair/dander all over the place anyway. I can't bring myself to say make them both leave given that real life is not Kindergarten where if people can't make something fair they make it unfair for all involved. So anyway, my answer is "other". | How should this situation be handled?
Very: yes, I know, and I agree with you -- I'm *very* allergic to a lot of stuff and doctors have warned me to avoid insect bites (bees/wasps mostly) because it was getting more serious with each occurrence (Yeah right, as if I *asked* to be stung, but yes, I take even more care now). I basically assumed that in general people allergic to dogs can take antihistamines. But mostly my response was that I dislike questions that are that extreme -- I have a much harder time answering them and end up clicking "other" instead of responding the way the person who created the survey wanted me to, because now it's not a simple case of etiquette (who if anyone should leave/stay) but one can't live w/o a dog and the other will certainly die from allergies. Makes me want to cheer jjg and make the person who got them there in the first place leave. | How should this situation be handled?
"Perfectly Good Health." I don't care if anyone else gets twice as much, there's only so much you can get... Besides, what's the old saying? Something along the lines of "May my enemies enjoy long lives so they can witness my prosperity"? | What would *you* ask for?
My SO, when told of this survey, said the thing to ask for would be something to reverse the "curse" along the lines of "to have the nicest richest neighbors." We did love Gilly's idea though... | What would *you* ask for?
"Fear is the soul killer (...)" | Is there something you're terrified of?
I don't really know what you are talking about, since I don't watch Super Bowl. However, I'm not sure PI is going too far or not -- I always assumed that Christopher Reeve had a fairly good sense of humor (if he doesn't, then they should change the title of his book, it's one of the most awful puns around ["Still Me"]). | "Politically Incorrect" will parody the Super Bowl commercial that showed Christopher Reeve walking, with Larry Flynt stepping in for the Man of Steel. Is PI going too far?
Thanks Gilly! It's a very wierd ad, I'm not sure what to think about it. | "Politically Incorrect" will parody the Super Bowl commercial that showed Christopher Reeve walking, with Larry Flynt stepping in for the Man of Steel. Is PI going too far?
I'm allergic to alcohol, so none for me, thanks. | What kind of martini do you prefer?
