Funny, I could swear his name was Americo, but maybe they write it differently in English and/or Italian then. | Who was Amerigo Vespucci?
Puritan style or mixed gender? (I can't decide which one would be more fun to watch, the evil part of me says maybe the Puritan style with men trying desperately not to touch each other...) | If a sport were to be added to the Olympics, which do you think it would be?
Well, I'd like to try too... Very often when I'm driving I see the results of other people's accidents. Many of my friends have died in car accidents, lots of them were not responsible at all for the reason(s) the accidents happened -- somebody else crashed their cars against the car that crashed against theirs. So we see the reason for the scoreboard being rather nasty. We've all been the unwilling victims of other peoples' carelessness; even when there are no crashes, the throughput of the roads goes way down to adjust for the fact that people keep changing lanes at high speed and accelerating and braking with very little regard for the fact that a constant speed in each lane (with the leftmost lanes going faster than the lanes to their right [reverse for English-style roads]) achieves the fastest/best result. I feel the same way about the poor surveys just to appear on the scoreboard: this is not a video game, most of us are here to interact with intelligent people, if we wanted stupidity we could go visit the myriad web sites dedicated to enshrining stupidity. I don't think SC is one of them. | Should the SC Statistics page list the top 20 most active survey qualifiers?
No preference to size, but I prefer open minded people who respect each other's rights. | In what size of population center do you prefer to reside?
I'll be daring here and say that I think that fewer sport events should be on TV, but of the ones that are, the majority should be female sports, followed by mixed gender and just a smattering of male-only sports. (I should say here that I don't care about how many people participate in sports, everyone should be free to participate in whatever they want... what I'm trying to say is that my impression is that the majority of female-only sports never make it on TV, and we have a lack of mixed gender sports on TV too... all this all-male-all-the-time sports is giving people the completely wrong ideas of who is good at what and why, that's all.) | Do you think that more women's athletics should be televised?
Your Majesty! They are asking about suicides, not homicides... | What 3 countries have the highest rate of teen suicides in the world?
I do know what was meant, but how else could I be whipped personally by Your Majesty? *crawling, as ordered* | What 3 countries have the highest rate of teen suicides in the world?
I don't click on banner ads unless it's an accident. And there are several companies that have banner ads which are exceedingly annoying, flash at high speed and/or are highly animated that I will never buy any products/services from. I'm also bracing myself for the media frenzy when one of said companies gets sued by some freaked out parents because they found their kids unconscious on the floor due to epileptic seizures. I wonder why they think that bad stuff like that only happens to kids in Japan, our kids are just as likely to be affected. | Under which of these circumstances are you more likely to click on a banner ad?
I'm kinda unhappy with this question, because it has overtones of justice not being quite unbiased -- my suspicion is that the richer people just have better lawyers and the poorer people get a lousy defense, if any, which basically mean they get the shaft. It's just not true that any 12 jurors will see the light and magically dispense justice... good defense lawyers will take more care selecting the jurors and objecting at the bad questions etc... a bad defense lawyer that doesn't at least pretend to believe the client is innocent will give off all the wrong signals and not put enough effort into the case. Now, I don't mean to say that cheap lawyers are bad and expensive lawyers are good -- but if in the middle of the case one finds out one has a lousy lawyer but can't afford to switch or appeal the case, one is screwed. | If you are accused of a crime, are you statistically less likely to go to jail if you are wealthy?
Other: I don't know and I don't care. I've been thinking lately that I should vote "bad" on every single survey that is not multiple and has different options for "I don't know" and "I don't care" and fails to have an "I don't know and I don't care" option. And I should vote "good" on every survey that does it right and includes an option for "Other" too; either you people learn to use multiple choice for non mutually exclusive options or you learn to at least put the proper common choices together. Back to the survey properly, I think US should not buy any more land until it has at least made a stab at the problems it has, including the national debt, but more truthfully, I don't know and I don't care. | Assuming it was for sale, should the United States of America buy Siberia from Russia in the next five years?
