Yes, we do. Machines with rinse agent dispensers have been sold for quite some time and most other countries don't sell dishwashers without the dispensers. Old machines could get away without rinse agents because they used so much hot water to rinse the dishes. The newer dishwashers are so energy efficient (i.e., use so little water) that they need the rinse agents to neutralize the detergent. (BTW, using a good detergent and a rinse agent works better than the detergents that claim to have "built-in" rinse aids.)Do you use a rinse agent in your dishwasher?
Why? Just because? We could use the money down here to provide food, shelter and health treatments for poor people in USA instead, it would be money better spent. I'm kinda against sending people places just because it's an anniversary. If we have real reasons to send people to the moon for further research, then so be it.Do you think that we should try to put a person back on the moon before 2069 (the 100th anniversary of the first moonwalk)?
Oh, great, now everyone can have hot flashes whether or not they are old enough for menopause, or even are female! Equality has finally arrived! > * smile * Would you take a pill that allowed you to eat more and yet not put on weight?
T tokens, change. There used to be a TV ad for Levis that implied the pocket had been "misused" for a long time (to store condoms).Do you use that small pocket in your pants?
Yes, many times. But the funniest time was when I, like most people, crossed the street from Macy's towards Filene's (Downtown Crossing, Boston) to *avoid* getting the "sample". Macy's employees were taking their job very seriously, trying to spritz everyone on the street with Calvin Klein's newest cologne at the time (I believe it was Obsession). Lots of people were just too distracted walking nearby, got spritzed, got really furious and dumped their entire repertoire of profanities -- it was very hard not to laugh at them. With the number of people who are allergic to perfumes nowadays, what the hell were the people who came out with the idea in the first place thinking?Have you ever been given free samples while you walk down the street?
Yes, sure, why not? And I'm just half kidding here when I say that at the very least they will (a) avoid having to pass laws against burning national flags and (b) get the thrill of being (albeit for a short time if other countries follow suit) the "country that formerly had a flag" or something similar every time we see an empty flagpole. It takes some time for people to realize just how powerful a statement it is *not* to have a useful symbol (in Prince's case it was unpronounceable, in Australia's case it would be unseen) -- one has to go thru great lengths to refer to the thing in the absence of its symbol. Prince, for example, got people referring to him as "The Artist" when everyone else was just a singer, and I lose track if he got his name back or is still supposed to be "the squiggle"... * smile * Should Australia be the first modern country not to have a national flag?
Oh good!Should Australia be the first modern country not to have a national flag?
I used to do that too, more often than not I'd talk about him either as Prince or The Squiggle. I changed my mind when I heard that his real name was Prince, he tried to change recording companies and the jerks said "Fine, but we own your name, this is how much we'll charge you for the use" and he went ahead and had a judge change his name to something unpronounceable. The media still had to refer to him, so they started the "The Artist formerly known as Prince" crap, which in retrospect I think was quite a revenge (then again, maybe the story is not true). I would have even more sympathy if it wasn't widely known that recording studios fudge their talent in more ways than one -- many people had millions of records sold and the studios tell them that they made no profit and the artists owe the studios money... yeah, right.Should Australia be the first modern country not to have a national flag?
Seen on a bumper sticker: "If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?" * smile * Do you believe that there are some things we (as in the human race) would be better off never knowing?
I had the impression they wanted it to be a Constitutional Republic, but I'm voting Democracy because of a gut feeling that Alexis de Tocqueville would not be writing "Democracy in America" so early in the 1800's if it was just a plain old Republic. Then again, I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again... * smile * The United States of America was originally intended to be a _________ by the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
