Holding fire drills unexpectedly; however, at the beginning of the school year, the principal should inform the students about the first fire drill of the year and that's it, but do not tell them when. In other words let them know that there will be a fire drill some time today, but do not tell what time abouts it should be. After that have them unexpectedly, and have them at various times (example One month have one late in the morning, and have one between classes, if they have one between classes, (Passing time from going to one class to another) the student should exit the nearest exit.
