Some of those would be pretty weird to draw on a 2-dimensional surface.Assuming you were granted the ability to draw extremely well, would you know how to draw...
Hey, you left off stinky cheeses and garlic! My favorite pizza is the feta, black olive, spinach, and garlic thing from Primo's, in Worcester. Nice doughy crust (but not oily, like Uno's tends to be), lots of stinky toppings. Yum! Pizza!
I tend to require lots of heavy blankets, even in the summer. Right now i've got a comforter and a way-too-heavy wool quilt my mother made. I prefer silence, but I can stand white noise, and sometimes I like a little quiet music (soft Eno, usually), although I can end up listening closely to the music and not falling asleep because of that...Sleep! Under which of the following circumstances can you sleep comfortably, and without much difficulty?
I just finished "Focault's Pendulum," by Umberto Eco, which was quite good, and made my brain hurt. (It also made me wish I knew about six more languages...) I just started "Cosm," by Gregory Benford, and it seems promising so far. He's written both very cool and just-kind-of-off books, and this one looks like it'll be neat. *** Bill, prefect: Yes, I agree about Foucault's Pendulum, but I didn't find it difficult at all. It's awfully odd, though, and the back-cover blurb lies like a rug. (Basically, the back cover says "They use an amazing computer to find connections between different groups," but in reality, for about five pages in the middle somewhere they play with a randomizer that prints conspiracy-oriented sentences in a random order. Basically: "spew templar-conspiracy" for those who know what spew is.) *** Lots of interesting books here, too-- bill, stop reading the Incarnations of Immortality series after the second book. You'll regret it otherwise. What book(s) are you reading right now? Would you recommend them to others?
I used to forge email and mailbomb people at WPI a lot, but I grew out of it. Internet Hall of Shame. Maybe you only did it once, maybe it was a decade ago, and maybe you regretted it later -- but chances are, you did at least one of these. Tell us about it. Have you ever...
The end bit of The Wasp Factory continues to disturb me greatly. And I watched Poltergeist when I was ten or so and had nightmares for a week. *** Reality: Hey, fellow Banksie-fan! (Who are you really? Do I know you?)Has a work of fiction (as an adult) ever truly terrified you?
A fireman, a spaceman, the usual. When you were little, "What did you want to be when you grew up?"
Black canned olives. My grandma used to get extra cans of them for me and my brother, who would devour the little suckers with great gusto. Yum! OLIVES!
Call waiting is undeniably and unarguably evil. It disrupts calls, leaves everyone embarassed, and pisses me off. If, for example, I'm talking to one person and my parents call, I have to say, "Uh, I'm talking to someone else. I'll call you back." If they just got a busy signal, they wouldn't get that sort of fakey "I'm here, but I'm too busy to talk to you" hemming and hawing deal. It's so annoying. I'd rather just get a busy signal-- it gives the message without the need for lame excuses.Telephony
The Star Trek series have gotten soooooo bad. B5 is at least consistently interesting, and doesn't run into the "everything has to be back to normal at the end of the show!" problem ST usually has. The X-Files I usually forget to watch, and the last few I've seen have been cheese-o-riffic, and in a bad way. It's too bad, because I've seen older ones that were really cool ("War of the Coprophages!"). The Earth one I've never seen, but since nobody I know has said anything about it, I don't feel especially drawn to try it. Most TV is crap anyway.Which sci-fi television series do you like most (the list is not all inclusive):
