21Like it or not, if you can't speak English in the US, you're pretty much reamed in many different ways. I do think that bi-lingual education is a good idea, though, as long as it's really _bi_lingual, and not just a token Spanish course for English-speakers or a token English course for Spanish-speakers. California just passed a controversial referendum to end bi-lingual education and replace it with a one year immersion course in english. How would you have voted?
22The seekrit Jer's Birthday Present list sent me. 8)Survey Central - I originally found out about it and started using it because:
23While I certainly support it, I really don't want to do it, thanks all the same. 8)20/20 had a report on human guinea pigs, those who take pay to test new medicines or take part in scientific studies. Would you choose to be a human guinea pig?
24In our society, money certainly helps.Does money = power & freedom?
25It depends very very much on what I'm doing. If I'm running a server of some kind, I prefer Unix, and thus a command line. In fact, I tend to avoid X when playing with our unix boxes here. When I'm at home, though, I mostly play games and music on the computer, and although I'd played with command-line-based music software (like Csound), it's, um, not exactly as responsive as just hitting "record" and playing the keyboards.

Oh, and just to be smug-- I only would spend money on Macintoshes. (Intel-based machines I'd expect to be geven away for free or tossed out.)

If you are given a choice, do you prefer a Graphical User Interface (i.e. Windows) or a command line (i.e. DOS)?
26Day-old pizza is okay by me, since I never get meat on it. And I had a bad experience last night with milk that had expired the day before. It was, um, bad. How "old" is "old food"?
27I actually had to use gopher to find some things recently. It was pretty neat. Do people still use it much?

Lisa: are telnet and FTP no longer useful? Hm, I'll have to change my gweeping habits.

In the last year, have you used the following Internet/Network Utilities (not including the use of such things via a Web browser)?
28It depends on what's there and how much I like each thing. Sometimes I'll eat everything but one thing and save that for last, so I can savor it, but sometimes I'll eat random bits of whatever's there. Usually, though, I don't have several different foods from which to choose, so it's moot. When eating a plate of food with several different foods on it, what order do you generally eat things?
29I try not to be mean, but I can be. Usually I'm snappy at people I don't like. Although is is really meanness if they deserve it? How mean are you?
30Assuming it's random, always go for the 50/50 chance. But if it's a test of wits and something I was good at, I'd probably go for it.You are given $1,000 -- no strings attached. You have the option of keeping this money, or of returning it and trying for $100,000. (If you try for the $100,000 and fail, you receive nothing.)
