He's a great player, that Laurent Blanc. In fact, his name is a really useful mnemonic: Bolton (2-1) Liverpool (3-1) Arsenal (3-1) Newcastle (4-3) Chelsea (3-0) Of course, by the end of the season they'll need a player with a longer name | Which is "your" team?
There's a really odd male/female split in the advanced stats. Women have a distinct preference for Willie McSporran, but men are pretty much evenly divided over all the names. I'm sure there's a reason for this, but I'm not sure what it is | Which of these is a real Scotsman?
icurok has got the right answer. The island is Gigha, by the way, and half the people living there seem to be called McSporran. Of the others.... "Phud" is a rude word in parts of Scotland (I'll let someone who's Scottish explain it!). Campbell is a common Scottish name, and double-barrelled names are quite common in Scotland, but I've never heard of anyone called Campbell-Soup. Jock Strap is, well, obviously a joke name, as is Andrew Muchiehabbit (try saying it out loud). There are quite a lot of Ronald McDonalds in Scotland, but none of them have been in the news recently. Wallace is a Scottish surname (as in William Wallace), but is probably better known in England as one half of Wallace and Gromit, a pair of animated claymation characters created by Aardman Animation (the company that made Chicken Run). | Which of these is a real Scotsman?
It depends entirely on context. All of these are, to some degree, insults, but many of them could well be justified in certain circumstances. | Which of these would you find offensive if directed at you?
Whaddya mean, "pretend"... ? | If you were to pretend to be someone you aren't on the Internet, who/what would you pretend to be?
It's been something of a bummer of a year, really. | What are your thoughts/reflections on 2001?
Neil Kinnock Anthony Hopkins Ryan Giggs Tom Jones | Name a famous Welshman
Sean Connery and Ewan McGregor are Scottish! | Name a famous Welshman
Scottish means from Scotland. Welsh means from Wales. Calling a Scotsman Welsh is like saying a New Yorker is Texan. | Name a famous Welshman
Oliver Cromwell wasn't Welsh! He was born in England, and lived for a time in my home town. His family were of Welsh origin, but Olly himself was English by birth and upbringing. | Name a famous Welshman
