Yes, friendships with a Chinese girl, a Hebrew girl from Isreal, and a Korean girl in my childhood; and in adulthood, friendship with a couple of Japanese, and an Indonesian Muslim in Jakarta. Oh, and a young Russian woman, whose hometown I just can't quite recall at the moment, though it ended with "...zavodsk". | Have you ever had a relationship with someone of a different nationality?
Oh yes, and an Australian woman from Adelaide. | Have you ever had a relationship with someone of a different nationality?
Isn't it something left over from the Boxer Rebellion? It's a public holiday in honor of the working poor, or something like that, right? | Do you know the origins of 'Boxing Day'?
*blushing hotly* no, I think the Boxer Rebellion was something else...oops! | Do you know the origins of 'Boxing Day'?
I seem to recall that the Boxer Rebellion had something to do with Chinese immigrants or the railroad in the US... now I'll have to research it... | Do you know the origins of 'Boxing Day'?
Sadly, all I can recall is being a Sugar Plum Fairy at age 4 in our church's Nutcracker Suite adaptation. It was a liberal church, and it was a sort of dance-and-play free-for-all for the children, so I got to put on my prettiest, most filmy and lacy nighty, and prance around to the music. LOL I always wanted to be in drama in school, but frequent moving and difficult homelife always got in the way. Sigh... | Have you ever performed as an actor/actress?
I can't recall, but it was probably telling my mother I thought her pie was good. She ranges from pretty yummy to downright terrible in her cooking, usually winding up somewhere in the range of slighty yucky. Growing up, I ate what was given to me without complaint due to being a compliant child, and she thought I actually liked it. So now, being a good cook myself, when I seem less than enthusiastic over her nauseating casseroles or her boot-heel pie crust or her gravy with a layer of fat separating to float on top of it, she is hurt, claiming I liked her cooking just fine as a child. The truth is, I had a great capacity to eat what was put in front of me to avoid being scolded. So I frequently avoid telling her exactly what I think (and especially what my husband thinks) of her cooking. We just try to discourage her whenever possible. LOL | The last time you lied, why did you do it?
BTW, I guess qualification didn't catch the punctuation error. The word "it's" is a contraction meaning "it is". The possessive which you intended, meaning "belonging to it" is spelled "its" without an apostrophe. Even newspapers don't seem to understand the proper use of apostrophes, and it's sad. Good survey, though. Very interesting. | Rank these proposed currency names.
Unfortunately, my mother seems often to bring out the worst in me more often than not. She lives with my husband and me, and she always seems to need to read me a newspaper article or talk to me when I would much rather be alone, and I get very irritated with her. It's a terrific effort for me to be as civil to her as I would be to a friend who wanted to interact. She seems stuck in one of two modes: moping in her room and very reclusive and depressed, or more cheerful, but constantly underfoot and chattering. She talks through movies and TV programs, hovers at the back of anyone using the computer, just waiting for them to notice her, and fills any comfortable silences with inane chatter. But she has better days too, and I genuinely like and love her, except when she won't let me enjoy some quiet or solitude. I find myself being a very ugly person sometimes, when I am frustrated with the lack of private space. I'll be glad when and if she gets more of a life of her own, and makes friends she can socialize with, instead of me 24/7! | Is there anyone in your life that just seems to bring out the worst in you?
Definitely if it were a bad enough nightmare, I would want him to wake me up and get some comfort, because I might do the same in that case, and he would comfort me without hesitation, though groggily. | If your SO had a nightmare would you want them to wake you up for comfort?
