When they do reply, the answer shows not only that the didn't read my letters, but that the have little or no understanding of the issues they're deciding. On the other hand, the mayor, city councilmen and county commissioners can't get away with that. I corner them on the street or in the grocery store or the coffee shop. They then have to be polite and give me a seeming reasonable answer (gobbledygook when you really think their answers through) and do it politely. Small town politicians don't dare offend a citizen since almost everybody know almost everybody else and word would quickly get around. I do occasionally get to corner my state rep and senator as well as my Congressman (who hates to see me coming), but rarely the US Senators who consider themselves too important to bother with small, rural towns. | Do you receive mail from your political representatives? |
