phi: Yes, it's called the Net Book Agreement. Institutionalised price-fixing - we love it! | Which genres/types of books/things do you read?
Boy, have I run the gamut on this one. After years of disliking my body - sometimes intensely - I've now decided to love it completely, exactly the way it is. Sometimes I slip and think 'Well, I do love it, but I would like to change just this one thing.' But loving it in its entirety is more fun. | Do you like your body?
Oh, I was so hoping not to have to weigh in here, but I've cracked. mandy/SueBee, I have also been annoyed by your exchanges. Not because they upset me, but because they bore me witless. I'm both glad and jealous that you have a super relationship. Really. But after hearing about it a few times, I couldn't care less about how fabulous your trip to Vancouver was. I'm sure it was great for you, but hearing it repeatedly doesn't add anything to my life. I like surveycentral because it's a community of interesting and varied people, talking arguing and laughing - electronically. But if the content drops and my time is being 'wasted' by repeated smiley faces, I will either filter or simply stop reading altogether. Like hunter, I recognise this is my choice, and I will deal as I will deal. But I ask one thing more. You live and love together already. Why do you feel the need to broadcast it so often, to the world at large? | Do you own a Magic 8 ball?
SueBee: thanks so much for your answer. It was an honest question, not a loaded shot, and I appreciate your responding as such. I live in such a rarefied environment that it never occurred to me that this forum was one of the limited places for you to openly express affection for your beloved. Perhaps you'll appreciate the irony that I really meant it when I said I was jealous. You obviously have a real emotional and physical bond with a loving and present partner. I want that more than words can say, and at the moment spend a lot of my time sobbing my heart out that it's not working. So, please don't stop expressing yourself - it give me hope. | Do you own a Magic 8 ball?
mandy: I really hope this attention is not making you feel under attack. I am taking the effort to respond because I feel you're worth it. Surveys and comments which offend me are skimmed and then purged from my memory banks, and now that I know I can filter out anonymous contributions, I will do so. With some notable exceptions, if the author doesn't have the eggs to sign his/her name, nothing they have to say is worth the calories it might take to read it. My annoyance at your exchanges with SueBee was purely based on volume. I enjoy the added depth that comes from references to participants lives together outside SC, and your comments are part of that. But if you count the amount of 'airtime' used by your exchanges, sometimes it felt to me that every survey was turning into a discussion about your relationship - which is of limited interest to the rest of us. mandy, you are clearly an exuberant, fun, loving woman, and I don't want you to change. I offer you the feedback because I would prefer not to filter you out. It might help if you saw 'editing yourself' not as self-censorship, but as a way of improving communication. You write because you have a burning need to express yourself - and then edit to help us see the fire, not the smoke. | Do you own a Magic 8 ball?
I like champagne after sex. And before. And during. | If you are sexually active, what is your favorite thing to eat after sex?
I can recall only two food rules from my childhood. One was that I had to eat a vegetable at dinner - but green salad was always available, and that counted. I didn't mind eating salad, so there weren't any battles. The other rule was when my mother made liver (which I didn't much care for), she also made potato latkes (yum!). You couldn't eat one without the other, so I learned that if you covered the liver in a lot of ketchup and fried onions, it was ok. | What foods, if any, were you forced to eat as a child even though you found them repulsive?
