13I've asked for a prescription for antidepressants as an experiment. Have you ever been prescribed antidepressant medication?
14Actually, anti-depressants do have an effect on you both physically and mentally. You don't have to be depressed to have "an effect" from such drugs.

My reasons for taking them was to re-establish a mental "baseline" of what feeling good was. I wasn't depressed but I wasn't exactly happy either. I simply didn't know what feeling "good" was from day to day.

Paxil, the drug I was on and as example, is a SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor) class drug. This mean, it prevents or slows your brain from reabsorbing (recycling) serotonin. Serotonin plays a heavy roll in mood and is generally associated with feeling "good" or well being. Too little available seritonin can make a person feel moody and/or depressed.

For certain depressed people, their brains may make too little serotonin *or* is too efficient/too fast in reabsorbing serotonin. In either case, there's too little serotonin floating around to feel good.

A non-depressed person taking a SSRI could feel really, really happy because there is more seritonin available.

But not everyone reacts the same way. Some people can have a paradoxical effect and become paranoid, *further* depressed and/or manic. Everyone has different brain chemistry.

Some anti-depressants, like Paxil, can be used to treat other symptoms which are not solely depression. Things like premature ejaculation, premenstrual syndrome, nerve problems associated with diabetes, obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety, chronic headaches, or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Non-SSRI, such as Wellbutrin - another one I was one, can treat depression as well but is also used for weight-loss, nicotine dependence, ADD, or bipolar disorders. For some people it can act as a stimulant and get you motivated for things.

One really weird thing about Wellbutrin is it does cause people to loose cravings for chocolate. Thankfully, I never experienced that effect. * wink *

19I graduated, but never received a diploma or went through the graduation ceremony.

Towards the end of my sophomore year, I decided that a) I was really bored with high school, and b) decided to get out early to try and attend college 2years ahead of schedule. After passing the GED (General Education Degree) examination and receiving a GED certificate, I went on to CSU Fullerton in fall.
What color was the gown you wore for your high school graduation?
20Uhmm, I hate to tell you this, but we received a ransom note today for one million dollars. All the carrots are missing. One beheaded carrot was left with the note.Would you destroy an ants nest in order to preserve an area in your garden?
