Also, the way that I have heard it several times is that the embargo is due to the seizure of property owned by U.S. citizens thirty years ago. Cuba is a government if they want to nationalize property in their own country that is none of our business. If our government did the same would we expect to be treated the way it treats Cuba? Also, Fidel is the man. ***Lisashea: would he be out of power? Consider that Castro never had the opportunity to develop his economy because the U.S. has always had an embargo and tries to force other nations to follow it. Also, Castro didn't embrace the Russians until after the U.S. denied him any aid.
