| 31 | cody: here is an example why people need an understanding of geography...true story one day, during a routine surgery in a operating room at the hospital, the doctors and nurses were all chatting about the bahamas. the doctor asked one of the nurses (who just happened to be the charge nurse that day) "vickie, just where are the bahamas"? well, the Registered Nurse In Charge says, "off the coast of boston..." and BTW we were in florida at the time. well, we tried, but we couldnt contain our laughter. she was pretty embarassed and should have been. now, if you dont want to look stupid like this, i suggest you have some knowledge of geography. at least your surrounding geography. and who doesnt and/or shouldnt know what the continents are as well as where they are positioned. oceans too. how many people dont know the atlantic from the pacific? many. its pathetic. how do you discuss current events, etc? think about it, you could look pretty stupid quite a lot if ya dont know your geography. | How important do you think it is that young people learn geography? |
