"Rich" and "poor" are relative terms, and just because someone is "rich" doesn't mean they should have to support someone who is "poor." I think welfare and charity and such are good for people who want them and are actively trying to support themselves or their families or whatnot, but there are too many people who work just enough to keep themselves eligible for unemployment checks and free or extremely cheap housing who could easily find a job that would pay more than they are making from the welfare/unemployment checks.
