| 91 | Well, I'd love to design my own home and have lovely catacombs and secret passageways throughout. However, an older house with charm and character and perhaps a few ghosts would be nice too. | If money were no object and you had the chance to move into your "dream home" - would you prefer to build a new home that you helped design yourself, or move into an existing home designed by someone else? |
| 92 | Quitting a job that I hated. I needed the money, but was treated like dirt there. It was at a graphic design firm and I was given zero respect. The designers made between 60 and 80 bucks and hour and had tons of perks. I was making 7 bucks an hour and had no benefits or anything. Everyone in the company (except me) was treated to a weekend at a local resort for them and their mate and given a bonus. The owner actually wanted me to work that weekend while they were all away. I didn't. Then he wanted me to do menial tasks like put their dishes in the dishwasher and clean up after them. I was hired for bookkeeping, not housekeeping. The owner had tons of money and was completely arrogant. I was the bookkeeping assistant and the bookkeeper had to have a hysterectomy so I was going to take over while she was gone. However, she took EVERYTHING home with her. I didn't have any of the records or info to work with. So when I received a bill for the owner's horses' food, I paid it. Well, the bookkeeper went nuts and started screaming at me over the phone because she said she'd already paid it. How was I to know? She took all the stuff home with her. I didn't want his horses to starve, so I paid the bill. I hung up on her when she started screaming, so she called back. She asked if I hung up or if we were disconnected. I told her that I hung up and that if she started screaming at me like I was her husband or her daughter again, that I was going to hang up again. She did. So I hung up and quit. I took care of all the last minute stuff and told the owner's wife what was needed for the company as far as bookkeeping and financial info, so they wouldn't be completely screwed, but then I left. As I walked out to the parking lot, I broke into a smile and it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I knew then that I had done the right thing. | What's the most nonsensical, illogical and completely enjoyable thing you've ever done? |
