I tend to burn a bit the first time or two out in the sun after winter, but it turns into tan within a few days. After that (assuming I keep going out) I just tend to stay tan. I've only had real burns (peeling and all that) a few times, from falling asleep in the sun. | Do you burn or tan?
My best friend from high school's mom died this past winter from brain tumors. She was 57 years old, and in August she was healthy and happily boating about Cape Cod with her friends and family. By November she was unable to walk or feed herself, and had a lot of trouble communicating. She was a vivacious, kind, and loving person, and it was really hard for me to see her like that - I can't even imagine what it must have been like for her. She died in January. Damn right, I'm scared of cancer.... | Cancer
It varies. I do notice that I feel better when I'm drinking enough water, but like so many other things, that doesn't necessarily translate into a habit. | Do you get your recommended daily amount of water?
Recently saw an ad on TV for a "practical jokes" videotape, which included one where they videotaped people coming out of a mall or something, and this actor would fake a sneeze into a hanky in the crowd, while surreptitiously spraying a fine mist of water onto the person in front of him.... | When people sneeze...
Bill: hear hear. (did Miss Manners *really* say that?) | How do you feel about receiving very large files via email?
I never meta-stereotype I didn't like! (nyuk nyuk) | Are stereotypes a good thing or a bad thing?
I love her playful, endearing habit of staying just off the periphery of my life, never actually letting us meet. (actually, I've had about enough of that, so if anyone sees her, let her know, OK?) | What do you love most about your significant other?
It would depend on the type of operation and the amount of research / successful cases that had been acheived. I would not do the "radial keratotomy" (I think that's the one...?), for instance, where they cut slits in your cornea and have it heal into a new shape. But I might consider the UV laser operation, if in a few years it's come down in price and there aren't any ill effects reported. Now that I participate in sports like skiing and hang gliding, I would really love to have 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts. I can understand not wanting to take the risk, but there's definitely a threshold beyond which I'd do it in a second. | For those who wear corrective lenses for vision. Would you have corrective laser eye surgery performed if you had the extra money to pay for it?
Granny Smiths and Fujis for me - I vastly prefer apples that have a good level of tartness to cut the sweet, and a nice crisp texture. Can't abide delicious-types, I find them sickly-sweet. | What's your favorite type of apple? (the fruit, not the computer)
Also bike whenever it's left outside. | What do you lock?
