I realize that sometimes some crimes are so heinous that it requires we punish someone to the fullest but we can't lose sight of the fact that as humans we can and do make mistakes. All those appeals that in the US (besides Texas) span for decades, those attorneys are not working for free either, so it's in their interests too, to make sure these appeals drag out but for the attorneys I wonder how much is really about the money and how much is about wanting due process for their client.
