I guess that I am doing a good job. That'll make my day. | What is the best compliment someone can give you?
Thanks!!! | What is the best compliment someone can give you?
Oh I am feeling better. You haven't been diagnosed as bipolar have you? I don't have bipolar but I do have PTSD and anxiety disorder. But it is in control with medications. My dad is bipolar and he goes through his highs and lows. This sounds like you are going through the manic part of the bipolarism. Please seek medical advice if you feel you might need it. There is no shame in an organic disorder. This is something you need to take care of hon cuz it can get worse. Please do so okay? | What is the best compliment someone can give you?
Actually it sounds like you are getting some good advice from that doc. I am glad. I think you are about 30? Am I correct? I am 38 will be 39 in October. I work for the State of NM as a secretary/clerk (PS: that is where I am at now). I have PTSD because I was with an abusive boyfriend/husband from the age of 14 (1979) until 28 (1993) this was my world and it was horrible. The last year 1993 was the worst, that cycle of violence they talk about in domestic violence is for real. That last year there was no "honeymoon period" He constantly hit, kicked, punched and degraded me. 14 years of pure hell. Finally he took a baseball bat (aluminum) to me and almost killed me in June of 1993. The doc's said that if it had been a wooden bat that I would have been killed. That is why in 1994 when OJ killed his wife (I know he did--just got away with it) I went beserk. It was almost one year to the day that my ex tried to kill me. And we had 4 kids together the first died 12 hours after birth in 1983 because he sent me into labor from a beating when I was only 6 and a half month pregnant. The other 3 (1Boy-2 girls) are teens today. My son is 19 and in college (sophomore) and two are in high school. I also have from my 16 year old a grandson who is 1. He name is Jesus, we call him "Chuey" You don't act like kid. A kid would not have had the courage to come back to this site and continue to be part of our community. I am sure glad you did, you sound cool. | What is the best compliment someone can give you?
Oh kitti, I feel so bad. It must be hard for you. I am so sorry about telling you about the drugs. The kids sometimes see their dad, he is out of prison now. they really don't care for him. Actually my ex was abused as a child. His father killed his first wife in Wyoming and he got away with because she was a mexican national and they didn't care about them. It is sad. I sure hope you don't have any bad dreams because of my post. I am so glad that we have had this conversation we have a lot in common. | What is the best compliment someone can give you?
I guess an onion--too many layers. | Would you consider yourself an onion or a potato?
Depends on the cause of death. Open preferably if it is someone I know well and the circumstances of the death are not too bad. | Would you prefer an open or closed casket at a wake or funeral service?
My husband is a member of what is called in NM the "Penitentes" (Penitents). This Catholic brotherhood came about in 1610 when our families were forced back from Nuevo Espana (New Spain--New Mexico) by the Pueblo Indian Revolt of 1610. The families that did stay started this brotherhood (Brothers of the Light) and they continued to have mass like before the priests and others were forced back to the Frontera de Mexico (Juarez, Mexico). This practice contained self-flagellation and self torture (that is what I call it) and it is still practiced today. The penitents recreate the crucifixion each year. Of course they no longer actually nail people to the crosses but they do hit themselves with cactus whips and and wear cactus in their shoes while praying the Signs of the cross. His request is to be buried in the way botherhood calls for a plain wooden box with the penitents head covered in a black cloth. It is wierd for those who don't know about this practice. The families who stayed behind on the land grants practiced this because there was no formal religious leaders for 70 years. That is when the "Entrada" (Re-entry) came about and all the land grant families who fled came back to the grants this was 1680. During the lenten season the Penitentes are very involved in the formal Catholic church but continue to have their own services in what is called "La Morada" (this means the red place in Spanish--I believe that it is called this because the brotherhood is in reference to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Kind of wierd that this is still practiced though, don't you think? | Would you prefer an open or closed casket at a wake or funeral service?
Yes, it is unique. That is one thing about New Mexico we do a lot of wierd things here. My husband has not done any self-flagellation since we have been married but he did some before. I am glad though, even though I am Catholic (not practicing--religion can make me mad), that he isn't so involved anymore. I hate blood and pain. | Would you prefer an open or closed casket at a wake or funeral service?
No I haven't read that but I will look for it at Hasting's. I am going there tonight to rent some video's. Thanks for the info, I will check it out and get back with you on this. | Would you prefer an open or closed casket at a wake or funeral service?
