| 34 | I was in Jr. High School. Another student and I missed qualifying for the honor roll one period. The other student turned in his report card for recognition as making the honor roll, anyway. I didn't. The principal called me in and asked me if I was really sure that I didn't qualify. I insisted that I didn't because I had screwed up in English during that grading period. I didn't realize it at the time, but the principal was doing this to assess whether or not there was a difference between me and the other student in honesty. The only thing that happened immediately is that the other student got reprimanded. In the long run, this seemed to define me as having integrity and credibility. | What has been your defining moment? |

A confrontation will not change the attitudes of the jerks, and a grandstand confrontation for the sake of "speaking up" has a lot of down side risks.
