| 31 | I think the issue is that some autistic kids freak out if a real person hugs them. But, just getting squeezed by a machine feels good (without all that human interaction stuff that freaks them out). | Do you think a "hug machine" would work for you? |
| 32 | I was thinking that too. This seems like Swaddling.
The hug machine was invented by an autistic woman (Temple Grandin) and it really works for her. I ran into this because there's a movie out about her life and it's suppose to be good/interesting. She's a highly functioning autistic. | Do you think a "hug machine" would work for you? |
| 33 | Oh, yeah, I've heard of that too. That always seemed kind of nutty to me. | Do you think a "hug machine" would work for you? |
| 34 | That dress makes you look fat! | Would you consider yourself a tactful person? |
| 35 | It's hard to answer because I think I flip-flopped some. I think I didn't support it at first, then I did (after seeing a documentary about how evil Saddam is), then I didn't again. I think I never really bought Bush's reasons (never thought WMDs was a serious concern and never thought Saddam was linked to 9/11).
Then, on the other side of the question... I think war is bad and all those people getting killed was really bad. But, assuming things continue to go well, maybe Iraq will be a better place ultimately. We did get rid of an evil dictator. Also, I think it's possible that the Iraq war caused terrorists to focus there efforts in Iraq instead of in other parts of the world (like our home countries). It's hard to really prove that, but it has been suggested and maybe it's true. But, it also costed a ton of money and is still costing a lot and that made it harder to deal with the Great Recession and has added to the deficit problems. All in all, I think it would have been better if we didn't invade Iraq. But, we can't change that. So, we might as well follow-through on it as best as we can and just try to achieve what ever positive result we can from it, within reason. | In retrospect, was going to war in Iraq a good idea? |
| 36 | I think there should be an airline that doesn't do any security. Then, people can choose security/hassle or not. Let the market determine the level of security! | Have the increased airline security measures influenced your decision to fly or not to fly? |
| 37 | My wife pointed out a flaw in this idea... hijacked planes sometimes get flown into buildings full of people who didn't get to choose their security level. | Have the increased airline security measures influenced your decision to fly or not to fly? |
| 38 | There was that plane that went down in a field too... | Have the increased airline security measures influenced your decision to fly or not to fly? |
| 39 | I used the BART once! I was in 4th grade, in SF for a cousin's wedding. Maybe 1978? I remember being very impressed with the BART. It was very modern compared to what I'd seen anywhere else (which wasn't much because I was so young).
I don't fly much, but when I do, I just try to go into this pleasant mode where I don't let thing bug me too much. I try to just be observant. There's lot to see. I especially like seeing people say goodbye or hello. Airports are really filled with emotion (for better or worse). | Have the increased airline security measures influenced your decision to fly or not to fly? |
| 40 | I heard that trains might be coming back. The government has been talking about it. I guess there's a lot of work to do on the railways infrastructure, though. | Have the increased airline security measures influenced your decision to fly or not to fly? |
