I was much the same way...in regards to waiting too long to change parts of my life (or myself) that were hurtful. When I look back on what I've put myself through I usually end up saying to myself, "If I only knew then what I know now." | "Way to Go, Me!" Do you imagine that ten years ago you would have been proud to be what/where you are in life now?
Although if I knew then what I know now I would've ultimately been kicked out of school. | "Way to Go, Me!" Do you imagine that ten years ago you would have been proud to be what/where you are in life now?
I would not feel odd about it at all. While the numbers do conjure up memories they are only numbers. | Writings on the Curb: Would you reconsider your endeavors if the place you were about to buy or rent had the street address of 911?
While I think it was a severe lack of judgement to enter into this conflict to begin with there is no easy exit from it. To abandon the Iraqi people now would be just as boneheaded and brazen a ploy as willfully ignoring the counsel of our "allies" and the international communities to begin with. | Present Presence: Please cast your vote regarding the U.S. presence in the War on Iraq:
I have multiple personalities depending on whether I am hungry, tired, cold, hot, sick, or any combination thereof. I am also distinctly more pleasant when I am sitting. So I'll pretend to be myself for this one. Done. | Masked Answer: Have some fun and answer this survey as someone else.
I was Porklet for about 2 months almost 2 years ago. I wasn't very active, but I revisited sometime last year and discovered the User page. It made it a lot more interesting having an idea of who I was talking to. I simply forgot my password upon my return and made up a new Username. | Masked Answer: Have some fun and answer this survey as someone else.
I would allow the error to occur. As it stands I am not responsible, and if I decide to alter the fates of innumerable innocent lives then I do bear a responsibility. Suffice it to say I did not start the conflict, and I will not finish it. | Telling (On) the Future: Would you prevent a future event from happening if...
Only if it were relative...such as now. I am related to Frank and Jesse James of late 1800's outlaw fame. They became outlaws by retaliating to a Kansas Jayhawker raid on the town of Lincoln (I believe). They crossed the border during the Civil War and responded in kind (they massacred an entire Kansas town). This was relayed to me by the Branham side of my family, and I have not researched it. The remained outlaws for years, and I believe they actually served as lawmen at one point. | Tainted Past: If you discovered that you were the descendent to an infamous murderer, would you discuss or brag about it?
Maybe. Unfortunately the cousin I learned all of this from passed away a few years ago. She was a Civil War buff and was writing a historical novel. I never really grilled her on the specifics, but it was my understanding that we were related to the James boys. My grandmother's maiden name was Younger, and I am fairly certain that is where the tie lies. Maybe you know something I don't, but my knowledge of this subject is limited. | Tainted Past: If you discovered that you were the descendent to an infamous murderer, would you discuss or brag about it?
There is some discrepancy whether Jesse James was with Quantrill or not during the raid on Lawrence. There is no doubt he joined Quantrill, but the matter of the timing is left unresolved. Jesse James did lead raids into Kansas until branded an outlaw by the Union. He did this in retribution for the torture of his step-father, the killing of his grandmother, and the imprisonment and mistreatment of his mother and sister. It has been many years since my cousin told me this story so it is probable that I got some of it wrong. She was my grandmother's sister's daughter (making her my second cousin) and much older then me. She passed away a few years ago due to a stroke so I can not ask her to tell me the story again. | Tainted Past: If you discovered that you were the descendent to an infamous murderer, would you discuss or brag about it?
