| 22 | This changes dramtically based on the traffic pattern which is oddly (loosely) associated with the portion of the hour. To illustrate - if I leave my house at 6:30 am, I get to work at 7:15. If I leave my house at 6:20 am, I get to work at 6:50. By leaving 10 minutes early I arrive 15 minutes early. Seems to me most people leave on the quarters of the hour - 6, 6:15, 6:30, etc. If I avoid that, I shorten my time. Because of the amount of traffic in our area going to jobs which (evidently) start at 8 am - if I leave after 6:30, it will take an hour to get to work. Conversely, one day last week I got up an hour early so I could be at work before 7:00 am because I had a conference call to Connecticut (10 am their time, I'm in California). My morning routine took the same 45 minutes it always takes. Rising one hour early put me at work two hours early. However, I usually leave for work at a time that takes me 40-44 minutes (my vote). | How long does it take for you, on average, to get to work? |
