21I hope you are not arguing that cancer gets the same public awareness as AIDS. That would be a lame argument. This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
22How many times have you heard of a benefit to raise money for cancer? (except for maybe breast cancer) There is always some benefit for AIDS. Matter-of-fact, if you ever go to New York on attend a broadway show, they will always mention something about raising money for AIDS and make you pass by their fund raising bucket. AIDS awareness is more chic than cancer awareness. This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
23One desease isn't more valid than another but more people are inflicted with cancer than AIDS therefore it should get at least the same publicity and sympathy. Also, AIDS is not hereditary like most cancers. AIDS is contacted by large percentage of Americans because of their lifestyle unlike cancer. The problem I see is that AIDS awareness is that it is considered considered more "chic" than cancer awareness which is a shame. This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
24If the common cold was terminal then I would say it wasn't getting enough funding to promote curing.

Are you saying that more people die of AIDS than cancer in the U.S.?

I do understand that in rare cases some babies are born with HIV and this is truly sad and catastrophic. I also understand that many people do not take care of themselves and come down with cancer but in most cases their genetics allows this cancer to happen in the first place.

My family has a history of cancer. These are nonsmoking, thin people. I just see very little on TV, or in society as a whole, addressing this fatal disease like the exposure AIDS gets.

I am not saying that AIDS doesn't deserve research funds but the problem in the USA is exaggerated compared to cancer. Maybe if more young people in Hollywood, Broadway, and the fashion industry, developed cancer maybe people would address this desease as much as AIDS.

25I am not begrudging the millions of people inflicted with AIDS but Americans (people who reside in the US) should start realizing the worse problem of cancer and start raising more funds for this disease.

If you think that more money is raised for cancer research than AIDS research then YOU ARE THE ONE ILL-INFORMED!!!

26One disease isn't more valid... THAT IS MY POINT!! Wear a fricken ribbon for cancer too why don't ya!This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
27You hear of nothing to raise money for AIDS but always hear it for cancer? I don't know what planet you live on. Do you ever turn your TV on or leave the house? This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
28I don't despise AIDS I despise that cancer doesn't get the same attention.

I also am aware that people can get AIDS in many different ways. I knew someone in college years ago that died of AIDS from getting a shot in Haiti. It was a tragedy and a sad time for his family and all of us.

A large portion of those inflicted with AIDS and HIV made choices that made them become inflicted. A majority of cancer patients had no choice with their infliction. It wasn't based on choices they made or deeds they did. Both diseases are tragic but, but to repeat what someone earlier asked, is one disease more valid than another? No, they are both terrible diseases but someone how in the US AIDS research, benefits, and fund raising has become a popular thing whereas cancer gets little support. Can someone tell me what day of the year is Cancer Day or what ribbon I am supposed to wear?

29Just because I think people should give cancer the same attention as AIDS, then I am a homophobe? Maybe you have homophobyitis (the fear that everyone is a homophobe). This December do you plan to wear the World AIDS Day ribbon?
