Then ,as the virus is scanned and identified, right click your Taskbar and Start area (bottom strip) and select Task Manager. On the Processes tab, locate the virus file that is "running", right click and select to have each "End Process" or "End Now". This will shut their process down. Then return to the virus scanner and select the action to delete them.
