I don't like the idea that people would create surveys anonymously to "protect their rating". This isn't a contest, I hope ... also, a person should always try to make each survey the best possible. | Why?
I am not religious, but I feel left out when I see blocks of friends celebrating this together. I wonder if the "average person" might not benefit, religious or not, from a period of introspection and renewal. | Ash Wednesday
Oh - I'd forgotten Mardi Gras had anything to do with Lent. I did see a report saying internet porn magazines now send people down to videotape and photograph the "baring of body parts" that goes on down there and they do an incredible business. | Ash Wednesday
Car phones can also be used as an emergency equipment item - in case the car breaks down. This is very important in many areas of the world. It can mean life or death in some colder areas, even for relatively short drives, for older or impaired people. | Do you own or wear any of the following ?
Shadow: The intent of "The clubs' activities and general makeup would be appealing to you" was to say, if you would like a female-only support group, then that would be what the female-only club's brochure would be about. If you liked a male-being-manly group, that would be the male group that made the offer. It's not 'would you be upset by being refused membership in group Y', but 'would you accept if group X that seemed really interesting also happened to exclude people not fitting the qualifications'. | Which of these clubs would you join?
Timex Sinclair with the membrane keyboard, and we even bought the extra 64k (I think) memory expansion which was amazingly large at the time. It used a cassette tape for storage and hooked to the TV. | What was the first computer that you owned?
Bill: As I recall the 64k was a cube that weighed about as much as the keyboard-thing, and only stuck in with a 3" long thin connector piece. It tended to fall out all by itself if you weren't careful. | What was the first computer that you owned?
I most enjoyed reading Ulysses, but Charlotte's Web left the clearest images in my mind. | Which of these 20 famous books have you read?
I thought Diablo II wasn't out until the fall... | Which, if any, of the following strategy games do you play?
I believe Stephen Hawking has held knowledge-requiring posts and won awards given by other competent physicists. He may be wrong on some concepts - most humans are. There are of course others that are quite competent in the field too - he may not be the 'best'. Still, I do not believe there are many physicists who would say he is "ineffectual". He *is* very intelligent. Intelligence/brilliance can be measured, unless you do not believe in IQ tests. In that case, I do not know what other yardstick you would use, besides esteem of colleagues. | Glenn Hoddle, football manager of England has been sacked for suggesting that disabled people were being punished for sins in their previous life. He said " the karma was working in another lifetime." Do you think there is some truth in this statement ?
