#CommentSurvey
3911That's very hard to answer. The tax code itself is nebulous; so I can't accurately give you a threshold. However, tax rates go up to 90 percent of gross incomeShould a flat tax replace the progressive income tax?
3912I'm not sure of the breakdown, but I read an article about a few lottery winners who took lump sum payments in the millions and wound up declaring bankruptcy because the had to pay around 90% of what they won in taxes. And this was in the Bush 1 era. Perhaps property taxes were included. I don't know; taxes aren't my specialty. Hiring an accountant is.

I can tell you this; I'm not even close to being a millionaire, and I don't even keep half of what I make by the time all the layers of taxation have had there way with me; and that's with the help of financial planning and numerous tax shelters.

Also, I have a couple of millionaire friends (lobbyists) who reshuffle and manipulate their reported income so much that they actually have full-time accountants in their employ. 1 fellow indicated that if he didn't use such tactics, we would wind up making the same money!!!!!

3913Having worked in a restaurant as a teenager, I am aware of the vile things that happen in a restaurant kitchen. Whenever, I see a chef leave the kitchen, I am transported to yesteryear and am instantly repulsed at what might be in my food.Do chefs give you the crepes?
3914If you can't handle a few jeers, then your relationship isn't strong enough to last very long anyway. Also, your woman may be too old for children, something you should consider for the long run.Who should modify their appearance?
3915This is a silly topic , surely the creator is smarter than this. Also, a lady should always be treated with respect, something I think is sorely lacking in modern society. By displaying her tattoos, does a woman relinquish her right to be considered "a lady"?
3916Yes, well, that's not really relevant, is it? Your statement is tautological. Of course people get ideas from their environment; did you really think that I didn't grasp that? However, there is a tacet understanding that a survey creator believes that his/her survey has some degree of merit, otherwise, why create it?

What is relevant is that the survey itself is silly, regardless of origin or the opinion of the creator.

3917First, I don't think you are stupid; I wouldn't respond to you if I did. I certainly don't respond to every comment I receive.

Second, as far as "talking-down" is concerned, I think you should reread your initial comment. With an instructive tone, you proceeded to tell me that people get survey ideas from their work
environment. Indeed they do; my first survey was a synthesis of opinions from my work environment. However, that comment seemed rather insulting to me, as if I were a moron who couldn't grasp even the most elementary concepts of the human condition. How did you expect me to react? I won't be talked-down to either.

Third, by saying this survey is silly, I am expressing my opinion; my intent was not to agree or disagree with the majority of respondents. I don't see that as the point of SC.

3918First, I was very well acquainted with surveys before I came here, and I will continue to be well acquainted with surveys for the foreseeable future. A very big part of what I do is to analyze scientific surveys and make corresponding adjustments to governmental rules.

Second, your supposition of what I understand and don't, is indeed, talking-down. Further, your "instruction" had nothing to do with SC and everything to do with how people generally form opinions or think of things to say. To the latter, at the age of 21, you have not been around very long at all, and perhaps should listen more than "instruct."

Finally, the only thing I see as impossible is perhaps your ability to admit that you might have made a mistake.

3919First, I never said I couldn't learn anything from you; the fact that I continue this discourse with you should be evidence enough of that. However, I must say that I never assume a position of equality with someone who has lived 20 more years than I have. I assume that someone who has lived that much longer, inherently has more knowledge. It seems that you feel that in terms of knowledge, all amounts of life experience are equal.

Second, explicit language is not a prerequisite for tone, as you are well aware. Regardless of how you may actually have felt, your words had a superior tone. If you refuse to acknowledge that possibility, then so be it; this discussion can go no further.

3920Fair enough, kiddo (meant as a term of endearment). I am certainly accustomed to stress and know what it can do. My job can be extremely high pressure. Keep in touch, and I do very much look forward to more pleasant interactions. Take care.By displaying her tattoos, does a woman relinquish her right to be considered "a lady"?
