| 57 | Well, I do believe that would be a deterrent. My daughter, many years ago had a friend whose parents visited a small country that used very serious tactics for thievery. She told me, you could leave your purse lay open on a table in an outdoor restaurant and feel relatively safe that no one would touch it. I like that. I think cutting off a hand for stealing is a bit harsh, however, it seems to get the right results, less thievery. There are habitual thieves and there are a one time only thief, how do they judge? | 60 | I generally agree with you until you get to your statement "big fat white guys." It is the white Europeans that have created at least 95% of all inventions to help mankind. Quit knocking the white man! God blessed the white Europeans. The third world is jealous of the Judeo/Christian white European. Also, who is the one that really profits on the medications that people need? My sister used to work for her father-in-laws drug store and she told me the markup on drugs at the retail level, is astounding. She said she would check in the medications that were received from the pharmaceutical companies. She said a few pills that would cost her father-in-law pennies, the store charged many,many dollars for. Such as 10 pills from the company might cost the store 10 cents, the store will turn around and sell them for $25.00 and more depending on what they were. I met a woman recently that said her prescriptions run $400.00 a month. Ridiculous!! She told me she took a prescription for lowering her cholesterol was I believe around $100.00, I know of one that costs two dollars. The markup on drugs is outrageous. I think there should be a reasonable profit, but not one that gouges. I think having universal health care is nothing more than communism. Whatever happened to individual responsibility? When things happen at the government level, graft is a possibility. We all know that. I believe in helping my own and others when needed voluntarily. doing it voluntarily through such places as our churches, or privately is a much better idea. Also, maybe more people should and would use preventative health measures. People should prepare themselves for their late years in life. I have a long term care policy to care for myself, and my husband also. I am making all arrangements for my funeral, my husband is also, so as to not burden our family at a time of grief. We have a living trust and given health instructions. I have left life insurance policies, on myself, for my grandchildren's education or home.(Scripture says to "set aside for your children's, children") You may think I am wealthy to do this, no I am not. I am not a person of means, I am just a person that cares about their family and don't want to be a burden. I don't mean a burden in a bad way, but in a loving way. All my children would take care of my husband and I if we became ill, but we chose to take care of ourselves if possible. Recently, one of my son's is selling his home to buy another much larger home just to accommodate his mother and father in-law, as they are extremely (terminally) ill and he and his wife are going to take care of them, and he (my son) told me he will do the same for us. I know he would. All my children would and I love them and I am blessed. However, I think people should try individually to take care of themselves, if at all possible. In essence, we are spending our money, instead of doing alot of traveling, (we do some) insuring our health and care in our twilight years. I think people should think ahead, whether it be health care or whatever. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STAY OUT OF OUR LIVES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE AN INDIVIDUAL THING.
