| 653 | Original Keith Haring graffiti in subway stations and handball courts on the upper east side of Manhattan, when I was in high school in the '80's. A guy in my high school class was a graffiti artist whose tag can still be found around the city many years later... he died falling off the Brooklyn Bridge trying to graffiti a hard-to-reach spot on there. He used to do beautiful murals on the high school courtyard, which somehow the admin didn't have a proper appreciation for. | 659 | I remember having a neighbor from a Slavic country, who would stand WAY close to me. I'd end up stepping back without even thinking about it - and she'd close the distance to match her own comfort level... until I was practically backed into the wall. I've noticed with amusement the difference between myself and my officemates upon entering a conference room. I'm from NYC, but I'm presently living on the west coast. My officemates will enter the room and sit next to someone who is all ready seated; I'll enter the room and pick the chair that's furthest from those that are all ready occupied, unless someone I'm close to is all ready seated; then I'll sit near them. This is precisely what people do on the NYC subway trains - we sit as far apart as possible, likely without even thinking about it. | How big is your personal space? |
