41Well, I ran into something and the game is over. * wink *

In an effort to become more "SF-literate," in the past couple of weeks I've read:
  • The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin
  • Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein
  • Dune by Frank Herbert
I was quite impressed with the Le Guin and Herbert books. Stranger in a Strange Land on the other hand seemed really hokey to me.
Which book(s) are you currently reading?
42I've seen the SciFi channel's Dune miniseries. I thought that was pretty good. I've seen bits and pieces of the older movie, but never enough of it to make any sense of it.Which book(s) are you currently reading?
43Some other books I'm currently working on:
  • Again, Dangerous Visions edited by Harlan Ellison
  • Grimms' Tales for Young and Old translated by Ralph Mannheim
  • The Bell Curve by Richard J. Hernstein and Charles Murray
This isn't a complete list. I'll often put aside a book I'm reading if it's difficult and I become weary or if I'm simply not in the right mood to enjoy it... usually I come back to finish such books, though the delay can be quite long sometimes. I don't think I could give a complete list of books I'm "working on" in this sense... I'd have to go through my whole library to make such a list, and in the process I'd inevitably get sidetracked into reading something. * smile *

44I want options for Christmas. I don't particularly care for essay-answer surveys, which seem to be dominating the site right now.

That, and some red m&m's.

45Thanks! I pick:

46I remember a time when every survey included red m&m's as an option. Those were the days! The annual "What do you want for Christmas?" survey, 2002 version!
47Probably the system of volcanic plains known as "the man in the moon". I imagine that just about everyone in the world has at least seen them, if not necessarily given them much thought. That's more than can be said of most landmarks. What do you think is the world's most famous landmark?
48Toilet paper rolls make much better cat toys when installed "overhand". Therefore overhand is the correct way to install them. * smile * Do you think there is a "correct" way to install a roll of toilet tissue on the dispenser?
49I think that the premise of this question is incorrect. My understanding is that it's a fallacy that the cards were designed to represent any historical kings. Here's a link to a site with info about the history of the design of playing cards: http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/playing-cards/tmfaq/tmfaq.htmlEach king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history. Do you know who they are?
50I like amethysts and dilithium crystals.Of these precious/semi-precious stones which are/is your favorite(s)?
