| 1 | "Okay, class, to experiment with the toxitity of fossil fuels, your homework is to go home, close all your doors and windows to your garage, start your car, sit in the garage for a while and see what happens. Then multiply that (for your next math class) by ... let's say..... a billion cars running around on Earth, with 1/3 of those without muffler filters, then write your conclusion down, and leave it pinned to your shirt." | Which of these statements on climate change is closest to your view? |
| 2 | > No..I just sort of don't care.
> That might sound bad..but do you really think that telling everyone > that we're causing this is going to change things? It's completely ridiculous to think any major > strides can be done to fix this...and even if it could..you'd still > have stubborn people who won't change. If public transit around here > didn't suck so much and I could walk/ride my bike to more places..I > would. I hear your frustration AND here in Ashland, Oregon there are the little electric cars everywhere (run about $7,500 to $10,000), I have a Prius (hope that doesn't get recalled) and there is an electric motocycle / scooter factory here, solar panels on our governmental roofs. I know, Prius's are expensive and I bought mine only because I had sold my place in 2007. We have two manufacturing factories making clothes out of hemp, bamboo and soy with Earth friendly dies and people are choosing bamboo for their floors and cabinets instead of forest wood, we even recycle the film that comes off of yogurt containers when you first open them. Amy's pizza and soup is also located here in So. Oregon as well as Maranatha Nut butters. And this town is starting to spill over into the surrounding towns. Strawbale class rooms for our highschool. Just to demonstrate how drastic changes CAN happen, Ashland in the 30s use to be the Ku Klux Klan capital of the west coast. But, no more because different people started moving in and demanding change. Sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing. :o) | Which of these statements on climate change is closest to your view? |
| 3 | My 1st thought is probably the thought that was suppose to be "thee" thought but I probably shouldn't say what my 1st thought was because it might give others the wrong kind of thoughts or they may think I'm a pervert because they didn't have that same 1st thought ... or didn't ADMIT they had that first 1st thought. | What is your first thought when looking at this picture? |
| 4 | "All acts and deeds are to be based on only love. Anything else is not of "God". So any of the above that are not acts of LOVE should be ignored". | Are there any commandments you think should be added to the original 10? |
| 5 | > Some acts can be done out of love, or out of self righteousness. When

He wants to protect people from injury, and prevent > a crash. This is a right act, because he is averting potential disaster. > > Now let's say it is the same situation, only this time it is known > that the driver regularly turns down this road the wrong way on purpose, > to immediately shortcut into a driveway when no one is coming. Someone > stands there, "because he shouldn't be doing that" knowing no disaster > is possible. This is a wrong act. Yeah, which is almost vendictiveness. I was even guilty of it at one time in the past because my siblings picked on me like the wounded chicken and got away with murder (I'm the middle child with one oldest and one youngest sister and an only brother) but now I am the only one out on my own (at 54.... duh) and the other three... get this... are still living with or off of my parents (and my parents go along with it) and I am the 2nd to the youngest. So I couldn't STAND it when someone got away with doing something wrong. Now, I know it doesn't serve me to go there and that what comes around goes around. That whole sort of Kharmic thing has saved my sanity-bacon. Right and wrong is just "that which serves us and that which doesn't serve us" and hopefully love will guide the way. I sound like such a hippy. :o) Thanks Linda. | Are there any commandments you think should be added to the original 10? |
| 6 | Well, since it is "people" who perform good deeds and misdeeds, not heterasexuals or bi or homosexuals I don't see why not. I had gym in high school where both of my teachers were lesbians (but not openly) in the 70s. Somehow because I didn't know until almost graduation and having 3 years with these ladies it didn't bother me when I did find out. Before we start judging anyone just know how many korean babies there are who were half white (and ostricized from society because of it) from hetersexual soldiers who left them and went home to America or other countries, not taking responsibilities. Gay or not-gay has no baring on how well you perform. AND HOPEFULLY, war and soldiers will be a thing of the past. | Do you think Gays and Lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. Military? |
| 7 | Just a comment from the peanut gallery....
My brother is gay and he was born that way and had plenty of bonding with both parents at a young age. I have a lot of gay friends. Many religions and non-religions believe in marriage, it isn't just a Christian belief. It should be open to all who love each other in that special way. LJD, I think for someone who is deeply devoted to her beliefs I do have to say on your behalf, though I don't agree with many of the statements, you are much more open than most who are very religious. I want to honor that. With that said, and since I believe that homosexuality is not a choice (though it may be in some instances) and many are born that way, and was also prized in early societies enough to make them Shamans and Councilors, I would like to gently suggest that instead of feeling pain towards your relatives, to feel love and openness, instead. If you feel "pain" more pain will come and you will see more pain inflicted upon them by others. If you feel "love" and "openness" you will see and experience more "love and openness" by others. The "thought" is a very powerful thing and when backed by emotion can be malignant or magnificent. Jesus even teaches this. Of course, I think Jesus was the most powerful metaphysician ever and believed in loving and accepting everyone, though that may be contrary to the Bible. "What would Jesus really do?". | Do you think Gays and Lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. Military? |
| 8 | I hear your frustration, LJD and it is hard to live in a world where things are not as one believes they should be. But you are assuming that homosexuality is an abnormality because of your Christian beliefs, not because it is. Nobody knows, and that is nobody, including these experts, what causes homosexuality or that it is abnormal.
You really have to see that a lot of us aren't Christian and don't go by the Bible, are very enlightened, and we are not satanic either. Christianity is just one of many. I must say that there are over 1,000 Christian sects and none of them agree with each other and say the others are wrong. Look what is happening to the Muslim extremists who think that THEIR belief is the correct one. I study metaphysics and one thing we believe in is that we have no right to judge or say someone is on the wrong path. Everyone is exactly where they should be on their path, no matter how bad it seems to another. "Judge not, lest they be judged. And those whom you condemn, you will become." Meaning, when someone bugs the heck out of you it is probably because that very same thing is "IN" you. Like attracts like and sometimes acts as a mirror so we can see and correct. So, in a nut shell, I hear you, I just don't agree with you. I don't think Jesus would see the "sin" in anything that is only wanting the right to "LOVE" openly. I gotta say, we metaphysicians are wanting to wrest the Christ story away from the Bible because we think Jesus's story was not told correctly. He was nothing but LOVE. As well as "God"... nothing but LOVE. Anything else that isn't love isn't GOD or Jesus. I don't follow the Christian beliefs for a reason. And it isn't the only religion or way of thinking. I think the Bible is full of holes, murder, hate, fear, judgement, jealousy ... all the things God says is sinful yet he does it. Not setting a very good example. So therefore, I don't think that God exists. Only the God of Love. God is Universal Love. I think that we are going to go nowhere because we have different opinions on the validity of the Bible and its teachings. AND you have a right to your opinion and your path and so does everyone else as long as they aren't hurting anyone. That is the key. Homosexuality doesn't hurt anyone anymore than hetersexuality. It just makes some uncomfortable. As far as procreation. There are too many people on this earth anyway. | Do you think Gays and Lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. Military? |
| 9 | Again, you are quoting the Bible as truth to someone who "knows" it isn't the absolute truth. As far as (I quote you) "The big difference between the Islamic radicals and the Christians is the Muslims want to kill the homosexual and the Christians DON’T",... that isn't true. There is a Christian Sect right now in America who is helping Uganda pass a law in THEIR country that will kill known homosexuals because they know they can't do it here. It was on NPR this morning. People are upset that Obama is going to this prayer meeting. AND they are just people who are CLAIMING to be Christians so I don't judge all Christians believe that way. My friends here in Ashland, OR who are Christian don't judge homosexuals. They are becoming the New Christians who are embracing 2010 more loving and sensible values... not those of 2000 years ago where people killed and condemned left and right. The Bible is obsolete not because Satan has taken over but because Love has. Unity Churches and Science of Mind Churches are brimming full and filling more because people are looking for a way to love and honor Christ without all the anger, fear and genecides, and worship a God of Love. Only Love.
You are judging. ... and blaming it on God. God gets the rap for a lot of unkind and murderous things "man" does. How convenient. This conversation is going nowhere because I don't believe in Christianity and I don't think Jesus would either. I think he already came the 2nd time, looked around at how his words were twisted, blaming his father for ungodly acts, and just plain left. Love is Love. God is Love. If the action does not show complete love then it isn't God. And I am meaning the God that is the Universe in all it's knowingness. "If he steals your coat, give him your cloak, as well." Amen. | Do you think Gays and Lesbians should be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. Military? |
| 10 | Again, I don't believe in those beliefs and if I were to keep up with this moot conversation I would be showing that I have doubts about my beliefs by pushing TOO hard. You are pushing your beliefs a little too hard. We need to be careful of our beliefs: "as ye believe, so shall it be done unto you". "What you sow you shall reap". In otherwords, what you think, say, etc. is done unto you. So if you see judgement, ugliness, unhealth, then that is what you will see and is done to you. You see ugliness, fear, danger. I only see love.
Yes, I've been to college, and yes I've done some drugs but not the hard ones and haven't since my 20s, though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. When in college there were both hard core partiers and bookworms, and I was serious about my education. I am a healthfood nut now, and live in a blue state in an alternative town, busting at the seams with factories cropping up producing green products and doing very well, which probably explains my view point.
