Okay, Lex, while I would never deny being immature (infantile, even) I can tell you right now I am a lot older than fifteen -- old enough, in fact, to dispute the idea that you are EVER too old to have a secret crush. For instance, let's say you had the hots for your best friend's spouse or Significant Other -- not an altogether unheard of experience, right? Alright. Now. How willing, exactly, would most adults be about owning up to that kind of attraction? Answer: If they value their friendship, not very willing. So I'll say it again, Lex: One is never too old to have a secret crush. Just depends on the circumstances. | Tell us the initials of your secret crush.

Interesting notion. Ideally, that would be a snapshot of Mandy. | Ideas for new emoticons
Are you looking for justice? How about, "Locked in a room for one hour with the families of their victims?" | If a serial killer is caught and imprisoned for his/her crimes, should they be...
Kate: Your choice is as nutty as the survey. I approve. | Do a haiku about the first Muslim in space

Actually, CarolL, option 4 was a joke. I'll be 37 in December. | Should February be longer?
In the beginning I was able to pet her because she was still too timid to ever "act out" her hostility. As for your question, yes, being new to the whole cat-scene, I DID used to stare at her. I was foolish and didn't know what I was doing. Eight weeks, two books, and several websites later, though, I am a little smarter now, and seldom ever try to make eye-contact. Paradoxically, now that Gwenny's a bit more relaxed around me (ie -- she knows I am not going to hurt her or try to kill her) she is far less shy about baring her claws and swiping. A weird syndrome: Gwenny had to calm down to start swiping. Lovers of irony take note. | Anyone on SC ever adopted a feral/stray cat?
No, her age was estimated (the shelter said one year, my vet said one or two) No idea if Gwenny was abandoned or feral, though her ear had been "clipped," indicating she'd been spayed and "tagged" by the city, then released some time before capture. A "tagged" ear generally means feral; however, my vet assessed her behavior and believes Gwenny had probably had some contact with humans, though really, there's no way of ever knowing. | Anyone on SC ever adopted a feral/stray cat?
Well, from what I understand -- and I'm still learning! -- city shelters handle thousands of animals per year, Kate -- they over overworked, understaffed, and not really in the business of "preparing" prospective owners for the challenges of adopting. I knew Gwenny had had a helluva time, and I wanted to adopt her and save her life. I wouldn't say Gwenny is a vicious cat (she's never successfully clawed or bitten me) just very shy and reclusive. Finally, we need to get stray and feral cats off the streets and into loving homes since the average life expectancy of a cat "in the wild" is less than one year. Being outdoors is a horrible, savage, relentlessly frightening experience for these animals and the vast majority of cats in the wild never make it. | Anyone on SC ever adopted a feral/stray cat?
